Rhett Repko - 'And I Told Her So'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Do you ever hear a song that sounds like it should be featured in a TV show? Some songs have a very distinct feeling, where the listener is able to imagine a scenario that could easily exist in the world of their favorite media. It's fun and fascinating, and that's exactly what you get with Rhett Repko's new song, "And I Told Her So," from the EP, Thnx For The Ride. Repko is joined with Stefan Heuer (lead guitar, backup vocals), Dan Gallagher (bass), and Tom Bryant (drums). They have a dynamic sound that you can't sit still for.

You know a song is good when you're sold 3 seconds in. The music is fun and I immediately felt the urge to dance upon hearing it. There are layers that give it great replay quality, especially if you're one to focus on various aspects to a song. Heuer is the star of the song, to me- his guitar work is stellar and I could listen to "And I Told Her So" all day, mostly thanks to the guitar, but everyone is so incredibly talented. Repko has some real talent backing him, and I would expect nothing less from someone so passionate about what he's producing.

The lyrics aren't groundbreaking or anything, another potential love song where a guy confesses attraction to a girl. That's literally it- the song is a long ramble that, according to the chorus, is all said to a woman. I imagine it to be on the awkward side, but still oddly charming. I love the pacing and how light the lyrics are. At first I wasn't a big fan of Repko's voice, but it's a matter of getting used to the sound. The only issue I have is that you can't understand what he's saying in a few parts of the song. It's a mix of the effects on his voice and the lack of enunciation- hopefully this isn't an issue in his other work, because it does take a bit out of the overall enjoyment (unless you're not especially interested in the lyrics, but personally that's my favorite part).

Repko is dedicated to his music and it shows through every part of "And I Told Her So." He's developed a fantastic sound that brings some funk to what feels like college rock, which lends itself to the idea of it working well in a TV show, especially one focused on that demographic. It's almost nostalgic due to the subject matter, even if you don't have a memory to fall back on yourself. I'm going to be adding this song to a number of my more light-hearted playlists.

"And I Told Her So" is a great song that I'd recommend to anyone who loves dance-worthy music that will brighten your day. Rhett Repko has a wonderful thing going on here and his sound is fun and refreshing. As a hopeless romantic, I'm a sucker for any song about love and attraction that feels positively open-ended. Be sure to check him out!
