Warriors of The Dystotheque Biography:
The stale state of affairs in the modern music industry, coupled with the individual's empowerment of the internet, has blown open the doors to unconventional approaches to music.
WotD grew from a love of lo-fi music and electronic culture between artists spread across Ireland France and New York. Style has no limit, these guys take in elements from 60's garage, broken beat, jazz, downtempo, techno, electronica, noise, psyche, breakbeat and pretty much anything that opposes the mainstream beige clichés of modern music.
WotD are composed of DJ/Producer/Engineers/Musicians Jonny Mac Derry/Ireland, Sean Graham, Coventry/UK & Toulon/France & Mike and Nick Rufolo NYC/USA. Their backgrounds have fed into a decade of DJ shows touring gigs and collaborations with acclaimed artists from such bands as Orbital, The Prodigy, The Happy Mondays, Pop Will Eat Itself, EMF, Shawn Lee, Saint Etienne, ADF, Stanton Warriors, DJ Food, Amon Tobin & many more.
You can listen to the same old tired shit being churned out telling you that "this time it's different", or you can march forwards, cans on ears, knowing that this time, music really is here to set you free cause the "Warriors have come out to play"!!!

Album News:
Return to Coney Feat Ella Joy is a reference to the now cult 'The Warriors' movie, tracking back to the final scene where the protagonists make it back to Coney Island. "We actually wrote and named this song back in March 2015, but at the back end of 2016 the Warriors (original cast) actually returned to Coney after 36 years (Talk about good omens!)"

Just Breathe
Bella takes this cinematic track on an emotional path to self realisation relaying the state of not giving up when everyone else has let you down.

Hashtag is a reflective piece of downtempo electronica with elements of jazz, featuring Tony Jarvis on vocals which looks at how we're lost in the modern world and struggle to bond with our own souls.

It's Hot Down HereThey say good people go to heaven, but the party will be in hell. If that happens to be the case, It's Hot Down Here will be top of the playlist.

Monsters at the Gates (Weirdos)
The crashing breaks of Shawn Lee set against experiments in distortion (that high pitch whine is formed from an 808-drum pattern) create the backbone of this song which WotD collaborated on with Pop Will Eat Itself vocalist, Graham Crabb. Graham's skill with words capture the zeitgeist of a world gone mad. He delivers it with such casual demeanour, that we can rest assured, that the
calmness is only temporary if he gets his way.

Mos Eisley Cantina Drop
The Warriors sometimes use film as a basis for inspiration. A running joke with Jonny and Sean is that sometimes the bars they find themselves DJing look like the Star Wars bar were most of the people have been given Acid.

Atom Vibe More downtempo electronica Sun Ra vibes, this is the story of a girl, severed from her love, living in a disconnected post-apocalyptic world.

Thou Shalt Not Follow is a message to the current governments and world leaders and borrows the famous anti-authoritarian net meme "Go to work, get married…" and couples it to a distorted electronic rock track.

The Future Is Ours is twisted dancefloor fodder for DJ's, mostly inspired from Jonny and Sean's time DJing together it's a nod to The Warriors movie and Cyrus's speech to the gangs of New York to rise up and own the future.

We're Taking Control is a mother message to the so called world leaders.
Christened on the type of rebellious rocktronic music that made the late 90s such a great era to be part of, the Warriors have drawn on that spirit to sum up the social chaos and political discontent that has spewed out of the globe over the last 12 months. "We're Taking Control" has elements of anger, disorder, angst hope and guts as the world moves into an uncertain future. We're Taking Control is a vocal collaboration with Pop Will Eat Itself, known for Wise Up, Sucker, and the Prodigy collaboration, Their Law. PWEI take the track to the next level with their take on the turn of events.

Escape from Coney
Starting life as an amalgamation of psyche, dubstep, trip-hop, and darkwave. The concept behind the Coney EP took on a new meaning inspired by the film, The Warriors, and the track was split into two. Where Return captures the sense of place, Escape is more about adventure. Taking inspiration from Ennio Morricone the music is truly unique.
