Chicago Indie Jetsam-Flotsam Releasing Split From Minneapolis's Holler House/Technician On March 3
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Chicago's Jetsam-Flotsam is releasing a split from Minneapolis indie/punk rock bands Holler House and Technician on March 3.
A track from Technician is debuting now on Modern Vinyl: https://modern-vinyl.com/2018/02/23/exclusive-spin-technician-cuppa/.

About the split:
Despite its status as one of the Great Midwestern Cities, Minneapolis's independent music scene is tight-knit and intimate, even spanning sounds and styles.

Take Holler House and Technician—two Minnesota rock bands that lean in different directions. It almost seems impossible that Holler House—with its grimy, relentless chords, its heaving beat and dubious melodies—could come from the same scene as Technician, let alone share a stage with a band who controls their attack with such precision, its sheer chords tugging the melody this way and that before unrolling lush swaths of harmony. But these bands, like so many in the Twin Cities, are irreversibly tied—sharing bills, sure, but also previous bands and side projects, professions and passions, babysitters and holiday dinners.

It's no wonder that, on the heels of their respective 2016 debuts, Holler House and Technician agreed to record a split together. Though each side captures their unique angles of attack—Holler House's cryptic dissonance and hypnotic power, Technican's '90s worship, complete with jagged melodies and vigorous agility—both sides share a tenacity, the sort of intensity that rattles windows and shakes smirks onto faces.

The collaboration celebrates what's wonderful about punk-rock in the Twin Cities: A unity of both cause and commitment, an interconnectivity that fosters creativity, a passion that supersedes labels and aesthetics, spans sounds and styles.

About Jetsam-Flotsam:
Jetsam-Flotsam is a family-owned, independent record label from the Chicago suburbs specializing in all kinds of punk-rock music.
Our purpose is to support and promote musicians who are pursuing their passions by releasing their music both in digital and antiquated physical formats-namely LP, EP, and CD.
The bands we support write moving music that falls under the broad umbrella of punk-rock but, above all, are also awesome, positive people.

About Technician:
Technician is a Minneapolis based 4-piece rock outfit whose sound pays tribute to nineties post-hardcore greats like Quicksand and Jawbox. Co-guitarists/vocalists and longtime friends Jer Jessen and Conrad Mach, both veterans of the Twin Cities rock scene (Align, All the Way Rider, Self-Evident), initially got together weekly during the summer of 2013 to casually bounce song ideas off one another while drinking cheap beer and watching Twins games. By the end of the season, the pair had written a solid half-dozen songs together and decided to recruit some additional players to complete the band. Enter Max Becker on drums and, soon after, Kent Thomson on bass. Fast forward about 18 months to the present - Technician has made the rounds playing many key Twin Cities clubs, and they've made a couple of brief midwestern road trips as well. The band recorded a full-length album titled "Crimson" which is was released in early 2016.

About Holler House:
Formed in 2013, Holler House is drawn from the experiences and feelings derived from working too hard, needing a companion, and finding meaning. They're motivated by music of all punk genres, including post-punk of the 80's and 90's, early emo, early 00's hardcore, skate punk, and noisier stuff.
The band's tracks on the split were recorded at A Harder Commune in St. Paul with Matt Castore. Dave Garner from Infrasonic Sound mastered the tracks (and has mastered many of their favorite albums by bands like Hot Snakes, Dillinger Four, Hold Steady, Les Savy Fav, and a ton more). Drummer Mike Novak designed the album and directed all of the imagery and layout.
