Songfinch's original product, a personalized Song From Scratch, begins by one telling their favorite memories, stories and feelings along with selecting a genre, vocalist type and moods. From there, Songfinch experts analyze the submission and match it with a professional musician from their Songwriting Community to create a song. A Song From Scratch is $199 and delivered within 7 days.
"After successfully creating over 800 songs, we wanted to develop another offering that would solve what we identified as two minor roadblocks with our original product: the unknown of who your artist is before purchase and offering a lower priced product," said Rob Lindquist, President and Co-Founder of Songfinch. "Cutting the cost in half allows more people to experience the power of a personalized song, while building on an existing song foundation gives more control over the final product which guarantees satisfaction before purchase."
With the new product, the gift-giver begins by browsing through dozens of song foundations, which consist of an instrumental and vocal chorus, and they select one that fits the occasion, style and the message they want to convey. From there, they answer a few questions and their songwriter uses the provided stories and memories to write and record two personalized verses over the selected song foundation. They are half the price of a Song From Scratch at $99 and are delivered within the same 7 day timeframe.
"The beauty about both of our products is that the recipient has no idea if your song was made from scratch or built off of an existing foundation, as both methods are super personal and real. The response so far has been extremely positive," Rob added.
Songfinch originally tested the concept for Valentine's Day 2018 with 25 song foundations and the feedback from customers and their songwriters was overly positive. They built out a search function and populated a catalog of about 70 song foundations covering many different occasions and genres from Mother's Day and Father's Day to weddings, bat mitzvahs and birthdays. They will be adding more songs to the catalog every week.
