New Single "'Thrift Shop" From NYC Blues-Punk-Rock Band Johnny & The Bootlegs Out Today
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Back for another round, NYC blues-punk-rock outfit Johnny & the Bootlegs present their second single "Thrift Shop" today, off their upcoming EP NYC Rags! Exploring the thrill and morality that the adventure of thrift-shopping unearths, "Thrift Shop" brings a satisfying blend of gritty blues-infused rock n' roll. New Noise Magazine premiered the track earlier this week, and with its public release today, it's time to dive deep into the urban jungle of Brooklyn life, and join Johnny & the Bootlegs for a wild ride!

"'Thrift Shop' speaks about the odd underlying nature of wearing someone else's clothing, not knowing if they are still alive or what their character may have been whilst wearing said clothing," said John Santiago, frontman of the Bootlegs. "The band has frequented Brooklyn's own Urban Jungle thrift shop in Bushwick for years and the song was inspired during 'a hop, a skip, a jump away' afternoon trip to their clothing racks. One of those contemplative songs that is essentially overthinking a moot point, so may as well have fun with it!"

The track follows the band's first single "NYC Woman," an anthemic celebration of good times and love song dedicated to 'the city that never sleeps.' Both tracks come off the band's upcoming EP NYC Rags, scheduled for release on May 11, 2018. Recorded at Brooklyn's Studio G by engineer Jeff Berner (Psychic TV, Chris Cubeta and the Liars Club, NAAM, Heliotropes, etc.), the release comes as a direct reflection from Santiago's time as general manager of Webster Hall for what he described as a "wild six years" immersed in the heart of NYC nightlife. A video for "Thrift Shop" will come later this spring.

"Thrift Shop" and "NYC Woman" are both available for stream and purchase on all major digital retailers, including Spotify, iTunes, and Bandcamp. Johnny & the Bootlegs will celebrate with a EP release show on May 10, at Coney Island Baby in Manhattan (169 Avenue A, New York, NY 10009) along with Bash & Pop (w/ Tommy Stinson) and Liza Colby Sound. Nominated as one of the "Top 30 NYC Bands to Catch Live in 2018" by The Aquarian, locals won't want to miss!

Thursday, May 10 - Coney Island Baby - Manhattan, NYC
EP Release Show with Bash & Pop, and Liza Colby Sound
