New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Powerhouse songwriters, big-hearted entrepreneurs and unstoppable 16-year-old twins from Chicago, Carly and Martina, share their brand new single and summer anthem: "Block His Number." These girls have been making an impact - not just because of their 144K Instagram followers, 67K Facebook likes, or 36K Twitter followers. Carly and Martina won't accept when doors are shut in their face, and live out the mantra "no" just means "not yet." The video for "Block His Number" is completely self-styled and co-directed by Carly and Martina. CelebMix, who premiered the video, says that the autonomy the twins had over the creative process "goes to show how much effort they are willing to put in for their music career.
As for the video, we can't get enough of Carly and Martina's visual. It's bright and colourful, infusing summer in every single way whilst exuding their fun and bubbly personality. They show how much fun the summer can be and they make us all wish we were their friends."

At its heart, the song is all about forgetting about drama and enjoying the summer. When talking about the song, Martina says, "This song's all about moving on from people who don't treat you right. It's all about enjoying the summer with your friends, and leaving the drama behind!" Carly adds, saying, "We kept seeing our friends make their plans around guys who didn't treat them right, and we would constantly tell them to just block their number so we can enjoy the summer! That inspired the hook. We wanted to send the message that you can move on and have fun without people who don't deserve you!"

Both of the twins tell fans, "The video concept is our own brainchild! We wanted to go with bright colors and incorporate elements like the sun, chairs, palm trees, and pool floaties to set the stage for summer. At the same time, we wanted to incorporate vintage elements like the rotary phones and an ice cream cart to hint that boy trouble is nothing new. It was amazing to see our concept come to life and share it with the world!"

This summer anthem is just the start for Carly and Martina this year. They've partnered up with Girl Scouts of America and United Way of Metro where they're doing a songwriting workshop with kids at a local youth center. They even gave an impressive Tedx Talk about how they used a bullying experience to inspire and launch their music career. Giving back to the community and engaging with their fans is of uber importance to Carly and Martina, while also building a career as artists, and singer-songwriters.

With more music coming soon, tour dates at Chicago's House of Blues on June 21st and Milwaukee's Summerfest on the Emerging Artist Stage (Johnson Controls World Stage) on July 3rd, stay tuned for more from Carly and Martina.

BIO by Ilana Kaplan:
At first glance Carly and Martina might look like your average teenagers, but they're powerhouses making music with a message. Music was ingrained in the 16-year-old twins who were both classically and jazz trained in playing piano since the age of four. Their dad - a music history connoisseur - filled their ears with only the rich sounds of classic pop. Along the way, the Chicago-based musicians found themselves somewhere in the middle - fusing their old - school pop upbringing with Taylor Swift's Red era.

But it wasn't until they were 11 that the strong-willed musical duo began songwriting. By sixth grade, the sisters were both experiencing bullying and as a result songwriting became a cathartic outlet. They turned their personal battles into positivity, writing the anti-bullying anthem "Make Me Happy" in 2014.

The success of their first single caused a chain reaction for the girls. "Make Me Happy" emotionally resonated with fans, helping the musical duo gain a large, loyal fan base on social media of over 250K fans. It's something that's in part due to their overwhelming sense of positivity and desire to connect with their fan base, but has also grown due to sharing a plethora of acoustic originals and covers during the past eight months.

In 2017, the sister duo got the opportunity to talk about the importance of using their music to instill confidence in others during a during a TEDxTalk. They've also continued to make a difference with their music in a recent partnership with United Way of Metro Chicago, helping underprivileged kids through songwriting workshops in the local communities.

Now, Carly and Martina aren't trying to make the next big party anthem: they're focused on empowering others and being unapologetically themselves. Carly and Martina have collaborated with an array of songwriters for their next chapter including Victoria Shaw (Garth Brooks, Christina Aguilera), Big Al Anderson (Zac Brown Band, Meghan Trainor) and Marty Dodson (Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney). They're not limited by genres, but inspired by catchy pop hooks and acoustic elements, producing their own work and playing their own instruments live.

On June 1, Carly and Martina will release their next single "Block His Number" - a feel-good song about leaving boy drama behind - sending the message that you can be your own hero. With their unwavering positivity and high energy, Carly and Martina have built their own sound - and they're not backing down.
