Kanye West Says "Watch The Throne" Sequel 'Coming Soon'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Kanye West has teased the sequel to Watch the Throne, his 2011 collaboration with JAY-Z. "[T]hrone2 coming soon," he tweeted.
The announcement is surprising as the two have had a contentious relationship in recent years. During his "Saint Pablo Tour" stop in Seattle in 2016, Kanye said that "there will never be a Watch the Throne 2," revealing that he and JAY didn't appear on the official version of Drake's "Pop Style" due to issues between TIDAL and Apple Music.
"There will never be a Watch the Throne 2. You know why? Because that's the reason why I wasn't on the song," he said. "I wasn't on the song 'cause of Hov, 'cause of this TIDAL, Apple bullshit. And this shit be getting me tight every time I perform this motherfu**er."

During the tour finale in Sacramento, Calif. later that year, Kanye called out JAY-Z and Beyoncé for not taking his calls. "JAY-Z, I know you got killers," he said. "Please don't send them at my head. Please call me. Talk to me like a man."

JAY-Z made reference to Kanye on "Kill Jay Z" off 4:44: "You walkin' around like you invincible / You dropped outta school, you lost your principles / I know people backstab you, I feel bad, too / But this 'fuck everybody' attitude ain't natural / But you ain't the same, this ain't KumbaYe / But you got hurt because you did cool by 'Ye."

During an interview with David Letterman's "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction" in April, JAY addressed their relationship. "That's my brother," he said. "We're beyond friends. Really, like literally, my little brother is Kanye, and like your little brother, things happen sometimes."

The original Watch the Throne, which spawned hits including "Ni**as in Paris," "Otis," and "No Church in the Wild," debuted at No 1 on the Billboard 200 and earned seven Grammy nominations.
