New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Los Angeles-based Alt-Punk band mermaed is excited to announce the release of "HONEST", the anthemic second single from their as-yet-untitled EP. The follow up to their debut single and radio favorite "IDIOT" released in August,"HONEST" is, as singer Arielle describes, "a battle cry for women that come from nothing who are having to face the inevitable struggle of just being a female in the music industry".

Formed in 2017, mermaed found fast success with their debut single, "IDIOT", immediately landing on the Apple Music 'Breaking Rock' playlist, while also garnering over 50,000 Spotify streams in less than one month. Hometown tastemaker Alt-outlet KROQ played "IDIOT" six weeks in a row on their "Locals Only" show - three of which as the #1 most-requested track on the program. Other airplay support has come from major market stations including KITS San Francisco, 91X San Diego, and KWSS Phoenix (among others).

Produced by Jon Joseph (Børns, Super Whatevr) and mixed by Carlos de la Garza (Wolf Alice, Jimmy Eat World), "HONEST"'s ready-for-radio sonics are paired with poignant and topical lyrics, including lines like "it's much safer to keep the pretty girls in order, they line 'em up like sheep to slaughter", emphasizing the difficulties female artists have had in the male-dominated rock music world. Arielle says, "In the recent past, I've let myself be manipulated and warped into something I was not, am not, and never will be. Now, I'm using my music to bite back!"
