Jimbo Mathus Releases Video For Solo Blues Guitar Interpretation Of Lucinda Williams 'Can't Let Go'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Lucinda Williams just completed a special tour to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the release of her classic album, Car Wheels on a Gravel Road. In honor of the anniversary, Jimbo Mathus (Squirrel Nut Zippers) released a video of his solo guitar interpretation of "Can't Let Go". The song is from Solo Sounds' Car Wheels On A Gravel Road by Jimbo Mathus on Solo Blues Guitar. View the video on Americana Highways.

As Mathus tells Americana Highways, "Greenville, Jackson, Lake Charles, Slidell; Lucinda Williams' Car Wheels on a Gravel Road played out like an epic misadventure, a beautiful heroic fuck up, on our stereos 20 years ago. Southern spots, mythological to some no doubt, but very real to us down here. Folksongs turned into rock 'n' roll. The zebra. Poetry. Meaning. It's my pleasure to interpret, filter these songs back through the soil of the Delta blues on the solo Spanish guitar. 'I Can't Let Go' is really transformed back to the blues which gave it birth."

Brooklyn-based Solo Sounds specializes in intimate recordings of iconic songs and albums performed by one musician on a single instrument. All titles are meticulously produced by label co-founder Eric Ambel (Nils Lofgren, Steve Earle, Joan Jett) and his team at Cowboy Technical Services. Mathus remarks on his interpretation of Car Wheels, "This one is my favorite so far. Solo blues guitar with no vocals, no overdubs, in super hi res sound quality. These are really hard to do but very cool to listen to." Listen to the album here.

With a niche tactic, Solo Sounds is an owned and operated label of The Orchard and works by singles and albums, rather than artist releases. The unique series already boasts a catalog of over 70 titles played on various instruments by noteworthy musicians, with many more on the way. As solo musicians line up to share their renditions, Solo Sounds will continue to release thematic tracks. Stereophile tells the story of how the label got started in their December 2017 issue, "Solo Sounds: The Power of One".
