
NASHVILLE, TN. (EMI Christian Group) - Three-time Grammy Award winners and Gospel Hall of
Fame legends, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, recently completed a whirlwind promotional tour in support of their newly released CD In The House of the Lord:
Live in Houston. The album debuted at No 11 on the Billboard Gospel chart and is the highest debut for a Gospel quartet album since The Blind Boys of Alabama's November 2003 release of Go Tell It On The Mountain. "Been So Good," the project's lead single, is going for adds on radio stations nationwide and is currently new and active on R&R?s Gospel Chart.
During the promotional tour, the group?s lead singer, Joe Ligon, made special visits in Norfolk, Va., Richmond, Va., Washington, DC, Baltimore, Md. Philadelphia, Pa, Memphis, Tenn., Jackson, Miss. and Atlanta, Ga. In Norfolk, Va. -historically one of the group?s top selling markets -local television, radio and newspaper representatives, along with a few lucky fans, broke bread and got up close and personal with the founding member at Alice Mae's Soul Food Restaurant.
He then went on to meet and interview with media, radio and retail contacts in the Richmond, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Memphis, and Jackson areas. While in Washington, DC he visited with WPGC AM, the No 1 Gospel station in the market, who sponsored a family night meet and greet with the crooner and their listeners at BLVD at the Cap Center. The Mighty Clouds of Joy closed out the evening by headlining the Living Legends Concert at Bible Way Church. Later, Ligon and labelmate Micah Stampley held a special dinner for retail supporters in Atlanta.
The group is continuing to hit the road in support of their new album. Future shows are currently being booked and will be added soon.

The Clouds have established themselves as one of the best-selling quartets of all time and one of the longest-standing gospel groups with over 35 albums under their belt. Their new album, was recorded during a special concert at The Fountain of Praise Hillcroft Worship Center in Houston, Texas, in December 2004, and is produced by Sanchez Harley (Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin, Shirley Caesar, and RiZen). The CD is the group's first project with EMI Gospel and celebrates 45 years of legendary music making.
The Mighty Clouds of Joy have been molding gospel music since the late 1950s and is a pioneering force behind many of the genre's changes over the years. They were the first gospel group to perform on "Soul Train," and the first gospel quartet to use a full rhythm section and incorporate choreography into their performances.
