NEW YORK (Pyramid Records/ www.pyramidrecords.com) - Stephen Stills, the only artist ever to have been inducted twice in the same evening into the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, will release MAN ALIVE, his first solo CD in 14 years on August 9, 2005 on Pyramid Records. The CD features thirteen tracks, all but one written or co-written by Stills. Stills' friends and occasional band mates Graham Nash and Neil Young are heard on two songs each, with Herbie Hancock featured on the final track.

When asked about the amount of time since his last solo album, Stills explains, 'I started working on the album 10 years ago, but Graham, David or Neil kept wanting songs. Finally, about two years ago, I decided not to give away any more music until I had finished this CD.' It's worth the wait. Stills expertly explores different genres of music on the songs selected for MAN ALIVE, giving listeners superb music, highly intelligent lyrics, and a taste of the lush and complex harmonies for which Stills is so well known.

A major figure in music for decades, Stills launched his career in the late 1960s as a member of Buffalo Springfield, a group most famous for their top ten single 'For What It's Worth (Stop, Hey What's That Sound).' When the band split, Stills joined David Crosby (from the Byrds) and Graham Nash (from the Hollies) to form Crosby, Stills & Nash (CSN), a group that remains one of the most popular in the world. Their debut eponymous CD went multi-platinum the first year it was released. Soon afterwards, CSNY (with Stills' former Buffalo Springfield band mate Neil Young), performed a now-historic set before hundreds of thousands of fans at Woodstock in 1969. Stills' first solo CD featuring his 'Love The One You're With,' went platinum soon after its release. Many other projects have followed (SUPER SESSION, MANASSAS, LONG MAY YOU RUN) and achieved great success (for a complete history go to www.stephenstills.com).

Through the decades, Stephen Stills remains a powerful and important force. Whether working with Al Kooper, Eric Clapton, Chris Hillman, Graham Nash, Neil Young or any number of artists of his stature, he is a Grammy Award Winner, a platinum songwriter of amazing talent, a superb guitarist (selected by C.F. Martin & Co. for a limited edition signature guitar), and a man of conscience who is personally committed to and involved in many important causes.

Stephen Stills will tour Europe and the United States this summer with CSN, performing several songs from MAN ALIVE as part of the concert (see U.S. concert itinerary below).
