Sydney, AU (SONY BMG
Music Entertainment) - Following the success of his latest album 'The Greatest Songs Of The Fifties', legendary crooner
Barry Manilow isn't resting on his laurels - he's already working on his next release, and along with a Sixties themed record, an electronica album could also be on the cards!
Yep, Baz says he's loving the work of artists like Underworld and Basement Jaxx right now, and would even love for an electronic artist to take one of his songs and rework it into a brand new track. But although he's keen to embrace new styles of music, he's not so sure his fans will be quite so receptive!
"My favourite music these days is electronica and if I had my way, I would make an electronica album, but nobody would buy it," he laughs.
"Or, I would love to do a classical album, but nobody would buy it. So I think what I'm going to do is follow Clive (Davis)'s advice again and do a follow-up to this fifties album, and do a sixties album. That's what I'm working on right now."
Barry says he wouldn't be surprised if we saw his sixties album out around Christmas time, but says he's not sure what will happen after that - "If I do a seventies album, there's gonna be a lot of my stuff!" he says. "So I don't know what we're going to do on that one. And I could probably find some stuff in the eighties, but I think that's where I'd better stop!"
