Sunny Sweeney Nominated for 2007 'New and Emerging Artist' Award for the 6th Annual Americana Music Awards


NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Big Machine Records) - The Americana Music Association has announced Big Machine Records artist Sunny Sweeney as a nominee for the 2007 'New and Emerging Artist' Award. The 6th Annual Americana Music Honors and Awards will take place at 7 p.m. on November 1st at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville , TN.

Sweeney is in very good company - she has been nominated alongside Amy LaVere, The Avett Brothers and Uncle Earl for the coveted award. Nominees are chosen by members of the Americana Music Association and eligibility is based on work released during a 12-month time period from June 1, 2006 through May 31, 2007.

'The nominations reflect the diversity and ever growing popularity of Americana Music,' says AMA Executive Director Jed Hilly. 'Today¢s nominees are responsible for some of the finest music being made and I am confident the awards show in November will be a musical night to remember.'

Featured in Country Weekly magazine as 'Who¢s Hot in 2007,' the Texas honky-tonker¢s debut album, Heartbreakers Hall of Fame was released by Big Machine Records on March 6th to rave reviews. She has received accolades ranging from No Depression to Mojo to CMT and GAC to the Austin American Statesman. The Longview , TX , native has played the Grand Ole Opry, headlined a CMA Music Festival stage, headlined at Billy Bob's Texas , "The World's Largest Honky Tonk" is a main stage artist at the 28th Annual Americana-International Festival and has enjoyed international BBC radio exposure via Bob Harris.

Sweeney and her band will kick off her first European tour Saturday, July 7 at London 's prestigious Luminaire club. The tour will take her throughout the UK and Europe including performances at festivals in England , Norway , Ireland , Sweden and France later this summer.

The Americana Music Festival and Conference, in its eighth year, runs Wednesday, October 31st -Saturday November 3rd. It kicks off October 31st with a night of incredible music showcases at venues throughout Nashville . From Thursday, November 1st - Saturday November 3rd the AMA Conference will feature daytime seminars, panels and activities at the Nashville Convention Center . At night the festival features music showcases and parties in area clubs.
