LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ Anti-Records) - BETTYE LaVETTE brought down the house at New York's Bowery Ballroom on October 26 when she joined Southern rockers Drive-By Truckers on stage midway through their set to offer a stirring rendition of "I Still Want To Be Your Baby (Take Me As I Am)."

The Eddie Hinton-penned song is the lead track from BETTYE's critically lauded second CD on Anti-, "THE SCENE OF THE CRIME." The disc features the Drive-By Truckers as BETTYE's backing band, and was co-produced by BETTYE, the Truckers' Patterson Hood, and longtime DBT producer and collaborator David Barbe.

While the new disc continues to draw enthusiastic praise from the press, the recent performance was the first time BETTYE took to the stage with her accomplices from "THE SCENE OF THE CRIME." In a night that featured a handful of surprises, "It was a guest turn by Bettye LaVette that put everyone to shame," reads David Schultz's review for Earvolution. "The soul legend worked with Hood and the Truckers on her latest album, 'The Scene Of The Crime,' and she emerged from backstage for a wickedly soulful turn."

Meanwhile, BETTYE - whose latest is "the best Muscle Shoals soul album in more than 30 years" according to the latest issue of The Boston Phoenix - is set to perform Don Henley's "You Don't Know Me At All" on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" on November 28.
