Memphis, TN. (Top 40 Charts/ Folk Alliance) - From keynote speakers Janet Reno and Eliza Gilkyson to the screening of the PBS's "American Masters' Peter Seeger: The Power of Song" documentary, the 20th Annual International Folk Alliance Conference is joining the many facets of the folk music industry into to a dynamic event. 200+ showcase artists and their related businesses are coming from around the world to Memphis, Tennessee to network during the day and entertain at night. Held at the Marriott Hotel Downtown and the Cook Convention Center February 20-24, the conference will kick off the year long 20th Anniversary Celebration for the North American Folk Music and Dance Alliance (The Folk Alliance) organization.

The Folk Alliance serves as the headquarters some 2,400 members worldwide. Their annual conference is one of the five largest music conferences in North America. The Folk Alliance continues to settle in to their new homebase welcoming their members for the second year to Memphis, Tenn. The attendees include performing artists, record companies, publishers, presenters, agents, managers, music support services, and manufacturers.

Though all information is subject to change, as the conference is building new and exciting events daily, the list of showcase artists reflects a wide variety of musical styles of in the folk world. Special features of the conference include ASCAP's Tribute to Ian Tyson; celebrity and classic artists including Kathy Mattea, Chad Stewart (Chad & Jeremy), and Jon Caroll (Starland Vocal Band); film and TV actors Ronnie Cox and Mare Winningham; and hit songwriters Wendy Waldman and Bruce Robison.

The International Folk Alliance conference has become the annual town hall of the folk community. Nearly 2000 of our 2400 members attend to conduct business, connect with their peers, and simply recharge their batteries for the coming year.

Folk Alliance Mission: The North American Folk Music and Dance Alliance exists to foster and promote traditional, contemporary, and multicultural folk music, dance, and related performing arts in North America. The Folk Alliance seeks to strengthen organizational and individual initiatives in folk music and dance through education, networking, advocacy, and professional and field development.
