LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Doubletrack Records) - Since the 80's, Warren Pash has been on the cutting edge of the music industry and has carved out quite a career for himself in doing so. His first big break came with the 1981 smash hit single and title track "Private Eyes" which he co-wrote for Hall and Oates.
That song not only launched one of the most successful duo groups in pop music, but provided a launching pad for Pash to embark on a career as a songwriter, musician, solo artist, producer and bandmate. Today, Warren Pash is out promoting his latest release "Plastic Rulers". The acclaimed record has been called "Pure Pop Genius" and "a contender for top ten album of the year" by
Joaquin Lopez of Rock and Roll Circus.
Warren Pash is a Winnipeg and Montreal native who became a veteran of the L.A., and Portland music scenes. However, he now calls Nashville home and it is in Nashville where his most current work has been established.
While it's true that Warren's career took off in the 80's, that's hardly where the story ends. Over the past two and a half decades, he has been on the forefront of some of the biggest projects and collaborated with some of the brightest names in music. He penned work for Carole King ("Life Without Love") and released his first solo project in 1998 "Parts Unknown". He spent time on stages with Lucinda Williams, The Pixies, The Waterboys, Roger McGuinn, Jeff Healey and Big Star, and also played bass with Screamin' Jay Hawkins as well as the late Rosco Gordon.
In addition to his songwriting and musicianship, Pash also joined forces with members of Wilco, Cheap Trick and the Mavericks as part of the supergroup "Swag" which took on a life of its own including an appearance on Conan O'Brien. He also spent some time honing his skills as a producer on "Chocolate Orchid Piano Bar" by the legendary Tupper Saussy and has carved out a niche for himself as one of Nashville's elite.
On his latest effort, Warren utilized several Nashville studios including the studio where Jack White produced Loretta Lynn's two time Grammy winning "Van Lear Rose" and Sheryl Crow's own studio for a project that is the ultimate concept record. "Plastic Rulers" is a band and a solo project as well as the title of the release.
As tour dates progress, some fans will be treated to a full band show that will burst with the power pop / rock sounds that permeate many tracks while others will see a more trimmed down singer songwriter style show where Pash will be able to showcase his lyrical genius.
The full release features performances by Pete Droge, Audley Freed (Black Crowes), Brad Pemberton and Billy Mercer (Ryan Adams), Dean Tomasek and Keith Brogdon (Bobby Bare, Jr.) and Jen Gunderman (Jayhawks). Either solo or as a full band experience, listeners are in for an explosion of sounds and spectacular performances.
