IODA Partners With MySpace Music

LOS ANGELES, CA. (Top40 Charts/ MySpace Music) - MySpace Music (, the world's premier online music community, today announced that IODA, one of the foremost digital distribution companies for the global independent music community, will provide its catalog of music to the recently launched MySpace Music. The addition of IODA will inject over one million new songs into MySpace Music's growing indie catalogue.

'The independent music community has been a cornerstone of MySpace Music,' said Chris DeWolfe, Co-Founder and CEO of MySpace. 'We remain fully committed to building an economy for artists and providing them with the necessary tools to further their careers and better connect with music fans everywhere. We're thrilled to welcome IODA and its more than 50,000 artists to MySpace Music.'

Through this partnership, the MySpace Music community will be able to stream and purchase music from IODA's rapidly expanding catalog of more than one million tracks from a diverse array of artists around the globe, ranging from established classics to modern up-and-comers. The IODA roster includes thousands of quality labels from over 50 countries, including leading names like Arts & Crafts, Ace Records, Nacional Records, Ghostly International, Bonnier Amigo, Cherry Red Records, Cooking Vinyl, Demon Music Group, Fat Cat Records, Kanine Records, Light in the Attic, Naive, Premium Latin Music, Relapse and Rounder Records. MySpace Music will provide IODA labels and artists with access to powerful monetization opportunities for new untapped revenue streams while continuing to intimately connect with their fans.

'Many of IODA's labels have been early and active participants in the MySpace Music community, and consider it an essential tool to develop relationships with their fans,' said Kevin Arnold, CEO and founder of IODA. 'We're happy to bring the opportunity to monetize all of this activity to our clients, and look forward to seeing what an ad-supported streaming model can generate with the resources of MySpace behind it.'

MySpace Music recently launched the first phase in an iterative global product rollout, which will ultimately include a vast catalogue of premium and promotional content, a wide selection of new user-to-user sharing tools, digital e-commerce opportunities for artists, and ultimately sales of merchandise and concert tickets. The new functionality is fully available for U.S. MySpace users as well as fully localized for the MySpace en Espanol community. Select products including the newly designed music player are available globally to MySpace's more than 120 million global users (comScore September 2008).

"The music industry and music distribution is continually evolving. It is essential that the independent artist has a voice and is represented,' said singer/ songwriter Matt Nathanson. 'That is why this deal, struck between IODA and MySpace, is so crucial. It allows that voice to be heard."

Like Matt Nathanson, thousands of independent artists will now have a new revenue stream through MySpace Music.
