LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ Fiddle Chicks Official Website) - A unique trio of fiddlers with angelic voices make up THE FIDDLE CHICKS, winner of this year's Emily Burrows Award. Kim Perry, Dee Trewartha and Emma Luker were presented with the award at this year's Fuse Festival networking drinks on the 5th of March at the Edinburgh Castle Hotel, Adelaide.

Sponsored by the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA), the award recognises emerging artists from South Australia, providing financial support to further their professional development. The $4,000 prize was instituted in 2001 in memory of Emily Burrows- a former APRA membership representative and compliance officer, who worked tirelessly to support and encourage South Australian songwriters and composers. The Award was established following her tragic, accidental death in 2000.

The Fiddle Chicks started out as a musical experiment, creating a unique minimalist sound. From their inspiring originals to unique arrangements of songs from the rich heritage of folk music, The Fiddle Chicks have proven themselves to be one of SA's most endearing and original acts. Their musical style range from Traditional Celtic, European, Gypsy, Blues and Roots and American Folk, but it is their original compositions and rich fiddle soundscapes which shine through. www.myspace.com/thefiddlechicks

Previous winners have included Huckleberry Swedes (2007), Mere Theory (2006), Pharaohs (2005), Foreshore (2004), Special Patrol (2003), Hilltop Hoods (2002) and Gone to Earth (2001).
