LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ Luck Media & Marketing) - The unexpected death of legendary Las
Vegas entertainer
Danny Gans last Friday hit master musical impressionist Greg London (www.gregorylondon.com) especially hard.
Coupled with several other recent losses, the tragic news also adds poignancy to the lyrics of 'Everything I Own,' the Bread classic that the singer has taken to the Top 5 of the FMQB AC40 Chart.
This week, the track stays at No 5 but with a bullet-indicating upward motion in the very near future. Surrounding London in the Top 10 is an inspiring batch of some of today's hottest superstars: Miley Cyrus, The Fray, Nickelback, Taylor Swift, Jason Mraz, Ryan Star, Jim Brickman, Shinedown and Kelly Clarkson.
'Everything I Own' remains in the Top 35 on the Radio & Records (R&R) AC Chart and on the Mediabase chart. It was recently declared the highest charting new artist single and independent label release of 2009 for both of these outlets. Three weeks ago, his placement on this chart resulted in national exposure in USA Today at No 25.
London's next single, 'Cool Change' is due to drop at AC radio across the U.S. in a few weeks.
'I recorded 'Everything I Own' because it's one of my favorite songs,' says London, whose hit show 'Greg London's ICONS' re-opened March 1 as 'ICONMAN' and is now one of the longest running shows ever in Sammy's Showroom at Harrah's Reno.
'Its words have always reminded me of the value of love and human relationships,' he adds. 'David Gates' lyrics are especially meaningful anytime someone wonderful passes away, because I think of the amazing gifts they have left behind. I never met Danny, but I knew his manager and he was always very gracious to me. I thought of Danny as a kindred spirit. We're not doctors and lawyers who have a major network of people who do what we do. This is a unique niche, entertainers who can sing and speak in other people's voices to create fun for others. He will be sorely missed by me and millions of others.'
