New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Gary Alt Official Website) - With a keen desire to spread the word that music should always be universal, ageless and all-inclusive, Gary Alt, an accomplished songwriter and instrumentalist, has come out with a new CD his fifth solo commercial venture called 'Not for Sale to Minors,' which is not only for sale to minors, but also to adults, rock lovers, ballad lovers, blues lovers, and all lovers of appealing, thought-provoking musical compositions. Alt, who also has many live performances and radio appearances to his credit, says that it is the CD's lack of a unifying theme that is its theme. 'I wrote for no particular age group, for no devotee of any particular style or genre, for no personality or sociological type,' says the writer, performer, arranger and producer, who also sings on most selections and plays guitar, keyboards, percussion and several other instruments.

'I wrote for anyone. I wrote for everyone. I wrote for all those who want to listen, relate to, think about, sing along with or simply kick back and enjoy the art of song,' he adds.

'Not for Sale to Minors' is available from the online music store, CDBaby.com (https://www.cdbaby.com/cd/garyalt2). Of the 15 songs on the album, 12 are original Alt compositions, and three are cover versions of previously released songs by other artists.

Alt's diverse selections include such compositions as 'God in a Box,' a hard-rocking number about the need to be open-minded and resilient in spiritual matters (which was inspired by an actual and somewhat annoying conversation the songwriter had had with someone who should have known better); Crystal Orchid,' a folk tribute to being accepting, welcoming and generous at all times, and which also features a beautiful string quartet; 'Love for So Long,' a ballad about being in love with love, which has proven to be a favorite among many listeners (and which is sung by his daughter Lindsay), and several others, including ''Maybe an Angel, 'April May Soon,' 'Miss You' and '6:00 Blues.'

Alt's own unique versions of Gerry Marsden's 'Ferry Cross the Mersey,' Jimmy Page and Robert Plant's 'The Wanton Song' and 'J.R. Robertson's 'Chest Fever' round out the selections on 'Not for Sale to Minors.'

'My songs are a product of who I am and the musicians who have influenced me in the past. As such, they may or may not appeal to certain people, which is true of all music. What's most important is that there's a very good chance they will appeal to anyone who is open-minded and who values giving all new material a good listen. No matter who they are, how old they are or where they came from, I'm willing to bet there are a few songs here that they'll truly embrace and enjoy.'

In addition to his daughter Lindsay, other vocalists on 'Not For Sale to Minors' include Larry Hayden, Missy Steinert, and Alt's frequent collaborator Jason Arvanites. His son Derek is also present on the disk playing drums.

Alt's previous CD was called 'Tribute,' an exuberant and inspiring original song tribute to nearly three dozen of his most important musical influences, including Eric Clapton, Steely Dan, Burt Bacharach, Chick Corea, The Beatles, Carole King, Stevie Wonder, The Allman Brothers and others. He has also written and produced the CDs 'It's About the Kids,' 'Alien's Heart' and 'Open Road.' Alt's lifelong love of music is evident not just in his work, but also in his daily conversations and published material, such as his website, GartAlt.com, where he writes extensively about his musical influences, his collaborations over the years and more, and where audio clips of his songs can be heard.
