Daniel Fingerhut of ECH Productions) - Indian music enthusiasts will have access to one of the world's greats as Maestro Aloke Dasgupta will perform his sitar live Nov. 19 at the Peace Yoga Gallery in Los Angeles starting at 9PM. Dasgupta is a world-renowned and award-winning sitar player. After studying under the direction of one of India's greatest maestros, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Dasgupta embarked on his career playing sold out audiences at concerts around the world.
The key to Dasgupta's success and exploding popularity is his ability to combine his hypnotic eastern style of music with western pop culture rhythms and tempos. Celebrities and pop icons alike take pleasure in this combination, which is evident by his collaborations on musical works with such musicians as Mick Jagger and Gwen Stefani.
More often, he is continually chosen to perform for Cheap Trick's "Sgt. Pepper Live," a musical interpretation of The Beatles' classic 1967 album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," by legendary Beatles' sound engineer Geoff Emerick, who produces the show.
The modern day sitar has a history dating back to Middle Ages. A staple of Hindustani classical music, a sitar has 21 to 23 strings and as a plucked string reverberates its length changes slightly as its edge touches the instrument's bridge, creating overtones and giving the sitar sound its distinctive tone.

Other musical appearances include ESPN's "Sideline," and recordings for the soundtrack of award-winning films such as "Outsource."
