Panic! At The Disco Announces North American Tour; New Album 'Vices & Virtues' Arrives Everywhere On March 22, 2011
NEW YORK, NY (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) Decaydance/Fueled By Ramen recording group Panic! At The Disco has announced details of their upcoming North American headline tour. The dates celebrate the release of the multi-platinum certified band's eagerly awaited new album, "VICES & VIRTUES," which arrives in stores and at all digital retailers on March 22nd.

The tour will begin May 22nd at Boston's House of Blues and then traverse the continent through late June (see below itinerary). Joining P!ATD on all dates will be fellow Fueled By Ramen recording group fun., as well as special guests including Foxy Shazam and Funeral Party. For full details and additional, as-yet-unannounced tour dates, please see www.panicatthedisco.com or the band's official fan club, www.northerndownpour.com.

What's more, Panic! At The Disco has also booked appearances at an array of upcoming music festivals, kicking off with a much anticipated showcase at this year's SXSW Music & Media Conference, slated for March 19th at Austin, Texas' world famous Stubb's Bar-B-Q. Other upcoming dates include Radio 104.5's 4th Birthday Show at Philadelphia's Festival Pier on May 20th, with a number of further radio festival appearances to be announced in the coming weeks.

Also on the band's schedule is a series of TV appearances marking the release of "VICES & VIRTUES." First up is a visit to TBS' Conan, scheduled for Monday, March 28th. That performance will be followed one week later with a Monday, April 4th appearance on TBS' Lopez Tonight. Monday, April 11th will then see Panic! At The Disco performing at Logo's 2011 NewNowNext Awards (check local listings).

Panic! At The Disco have already heralded "VICES & VIRTUES" with a number of sold out live performances in Los Angeles, London, Germany, and New York City. The latter date earned ecstatic critical acclaim from all corners, including MTV News, The New York Times, and SPIN, which extolled the band for "blowing through their 13-song set with every ounce of energy that had been bottled up for two whole years." The New York Times hailed Panic! At The Disco's new material for their "manic energy and tunefulness," praising the "tempo shifts, interludes of strings and synthesizer in 'Let's Kill Tonight' and hints of cabaret and tango, switching to power ballad, in 'Nearly Witches.'" The New York Times also applauded frontman Brendon Urie's "flair for drama that's playfully campy," while noting "all (the band's) flourishes are tucked neatly between choruses that are proudly and insistently pop."

"VICES & VIRTUES" - which includes the first single, "The Ballad of Mona Lisa" - has also begun drawing praise, including a four-starred rave from Alternative Press, which declared the album "a new start for Panic! At The Disco... (melding) the youthful exuberance of their debut, 2005's 'A FEVER YOU CAN'T SWEAT OUT,' with the restraint and maturity of 2008's 'PRETTY. ODD.'" The review further commends tracks such as "Nearly Witches (Ever Since We Met...)," "Hurricane" and "The Ballad of Mona Lisa" for their "Elfman-esque string arrangements, creepy undertones and twinkling pianos," ultimately concluding that P!ATD have "tightened the reins while not abandoning the dramatic, theatrical tendencies that made them stars in the first place" and "sound absolutely recharged."

Pre-orders for the album are available now at iTunes, where it has proven so popular "VICES & VIRTUES" has already reached the top 5 on the overall "Top Albums" chart, as well as No 6 on the "Top Alternative Albums" tally. In addition, pre-orders are also currently being offered at both Panic! At The Disco's official website (www.panicatthedisco.com) and the Fueled By Ramen webstore (store.fueledbyramen.com). Though the highest priced "Fantastical Bundle" sold out almost instantly, "VICES & VIRTUES" is still being offered in an array of unique bundles, featuring such exciting exclusives as a Limited Edition Box Set that includes a 32 page perfect bound book of art and photos, 4 full color 5x5 photo cards, a foldout poster, a DVD with special new video content, and 4 additional bonus tracks. Additional extras available to those pre-ordering include an iTunes exclusive track, two b-sides, and a limited edition "Black Plague" t-shirt. All pre-orders in the US receive an instant download of "The Ballad of Mona Lisa." Furthermore, the full album is currently streaming exclusively on Panic! At The Disco's official Facebook (www.facebook.com/panicatthedisco).

Currently ascending the airplay charts at Alternative Radio outlets nationwide, "The Ballad of Mona Lisa" was a No 1 smash on iTunes' "Top Alternative Songs" chart, while its companion video peaked at No 1 on iTunes' "Top Alternative Music Videos" ranking, where it remains a top 5 favorite. "The Ballad of Mona Lisa" - directed by Shane Drake (who previously collaborated with P!ATD on the award-winning "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" video, as well as the hugely popular "Nine In The Afternoon" clip) - has also scored heavy rotation at MTV, MTV2, mtvU, MTV Hits, and Logo's NewNowNext PopLab. In addition, the clip has received 3 million views and counting at Fueled By Ramen's official YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/user/FueledByRamen).

Produced by Butch Walker (Weezer, Pink) and John Feldmann (The Used, Neon Trees), "VICES & VIRTUES" marks Panic! At The Disco's first new release in three years, as well as their debut outing as a duo comprised of singer/multi-instrumentalist Brendon Urie and drummer Spencer Smith.
