Ras Nas Featuring Vumbi At Oslo Mela
OSLO, Norway (Top40 Charts/ Kongoi Productions) Soukous explosion is probably a better way of describing the collaboration between Tanzanian Ras Nas and Congolese guitarist and singer Dekula "Vumbi" Kahanga during the upcoming Mela Festival in Oslo in July this year. "Vumbi" appears as special guest in addition to Ras Nas' lineup of musicians from, among others, Ivory Coast, Congo Brazzaville and Australia.

"This is the first time that I am working with Vumbi" says Ras Nas aka Nasibu, a musician and poet from Tanzania living in Oslo, adding "the public in Oslo should get ready to experience the real deal".

Dekula "Vumbi" lives in Stockholm, Sweden, where he regularly plays with his band Ngoma ya Kilo. Vumbi is a veteran musician who has over the years played with a number of legendary Congolese bands and musicians, both in Congo and Tanzania.

Dekula This year's Oslo Mela festival is the tenth in a row and celebrates the jubileum with a lineup of international heavyweights. Among the festival's highlights are the Ivorian reggae star Alpha Blondy, Jamaican Ky'mani Marley and reggae poet Linton Kwesi Johnson. Others are the award winning Pakistani folk musician Sain Zahoor, Ciwan Haco from Kurdistan and Morrocan Orchestér National De Barbes.

Place: City Square, Oslo
Date: 30th July 2011
