KANSAS CITY, Kansas (Chris Burnett Official Website) - Christopher L. Burnett, is a saxophonist, composer, arranger, and IAJE artist/clinician. A Kansas City-area native, he returned home to live in the metro (2001) and continues his active musical career at one of the most significant centers of jazz music history in the world (www.burnettmusic.com).
ASR Records recording artist, Chris Burnett, and his jazz ensemble, Chris Burnett Quartet, will present three shows during the 4th Annual Wine and Jazz Festival held each year at the Elms Resort and Spa. The Chris Burnett Quartet performance at this event will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2004 and will feature original compositions and arrangements of familiar jazz repertoire by award winning composer and the band's leader, Chris Burnett.
Chris Burnett began his professional performing career as a member of US military jazz bands and returned home to his native Kansas City area to perform in 2001. He has performed thousands of engagements worldwide and even appeared on Italian television while a member of the special NATO Band based at Naples, Italy. Chris Burnett Quartet debuted at the 2002 Roots Festival held at Paola, Kansas; and, was the opening act for trumpet legend, Maynard Ferguson's, recent performance in Kansas City. Burnett has one commercially released CD on the market, and the group is currently preparing music for a new CD.
In addition to Burnett performing on alto saxophone, soprano saxophone, clarinet and flute, the group membership also includes several of Kansas City's most noted musicians. Roger Wilder is the group's pianist; Ed Goeke holds down the bass chair; and Donivan Bailey rounds out the quartet as percussionist.
Chris Burnett signed with 'ASR Records in 2002 which is located in Kansas City, and the label's focus is on music that has a jazz flavor. Chris also serves as a staff writer for the label as well! Label co-founder and Kansas City Jazz Master, Ahmad Alaadeen states: "Chris is truly an emerging performing and recording artist on the jazz music scene today. He is the total package, a mature musician, and definitely one to watch on alto sax!"
