Vancouver, BC (Top40 Charts/ Nimbus School of Recording Arts) Powerful Vancouver 3-piece band We Hunt Buffalo took the crowd by storm and won the 4th
Nimbus Showcase Event, this past Monday night at The Media Club. Peak Performance Project darling Ashleigh Eymann also impressed the judges enough to win studio time. The evening's diverse bill also included indie-popsters Pineapple, and metal stalwarts Graves.
A record 149 acts applied via SonicBids from around the world, including entries from Egypt, Australia, and 19 US states. These four were selected to showcase by students of the
Music Business program at Nimbus. Students enrolled in the
Music Production program judged the four competing acts, and award a top prize of a minimum 3 songs to be recorded at Nimbus. 50% of bands that have played
Nimbus Showcase Events have received studio time. All acts that are awarded recording time at the Showcase Events are recorded by
Nimbus Production students.
Almost $600 was raised from the evening, in support of the children of Randy Ponzio.
The next
Nimbus Showcase Event has been confirmed for
September 30th. Bands may apply via SonicBids starting July 1st.
The
Nimbus Showcase Event is sponsored by Long & McQuade and Big Rock Brewery.
