Mperia is a platform that allows labels like Wasp Factory and artists to upload, price, and sell music directly to fans without restricting distribution rights or limiting access. Using Mperia, artists can sell tracks for as little as 25 cents and still keep the vast majority of their profits.
Wasp Factory's artists Earth Loop Recall, Tarantella Serpentine, Psychophile, Arkam Asylum, The Chaos Engine, Deathboy, and Goteki are currently selling their music at Mperia. Attracting fans from the UK, the US, Australia, New Zealand, Deathboy and Goteki have been best sellers since BitPass launched Mperia in February. Mark Eris, a spokesman for Wasp Factory, finds that Mperia's do-it-yourself approach to digital distribution and its favorable terms for artists captures the spirit of independent music. By combining social networking features with musical content, Mperia provides fans a way to discover new music through their network rather then relying on best seller lists that might not represent their musical tastes.
