Diego native Alisha Zalkin will release her debut EP 'March To A Different Beat,' a collection of five songs that reflect the irrefutable talent of a rising star. At 25, Alisha is just as comfortable writing songs about her grandparents' flight from the Nazis as she is about bullying and young love.

- The San
Diego native brings a unique ethnic background to her music. She grew up singing opera at the Jewish Community Center with her Eastern European Jewish grandmother and was exposed to Mariachi by her Mexican grandmother.
- Awards include the San
Diego Spotlight Award and the Singer Universe's Vocalist Of The Month.
- "

- Alisha's Jewish grandmother was the youngest opera singer to be admitted into the Vienna School of music, but she was unable to attend because her family was forced to flee the country during WWII before she could enroll.
- The title track is dedicated to Alisha's father who struggled as the son of two Holocaust survivors and as the first-generation American of his family.
- Alisha is the founder of the New York chapter of Playing For Change Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to connecting the world through music. Proceeds from 'March To A Different Beat' will be donated to the organization.
- The track "Say It To My Face" was inspired by the national Hey U.G.L.Y. anti-bullying campaign.
- Alisha's music is spiritually uplifting and conveys a positive message for teens.
- Zalkin's influences include Whitney Houston, Celine Dion,
Aretha Franklin and Carole King.
- Yoga and cycling are Alisha's other passions. She is also a 500-hour yoga instructor.
