Aaron Jackson on Sunday, June 3 at 3 pm, at the College Club in Boston.

Aaron Jackson will perform a program hosted by Paul Carlson and "The Chromatic Club" of Boston, featuring some of the most influential works for flute in the 20th century. The fantastic Sonata for flute and piano by Bohuslav Martinu will open the program, followed by works of Boston's own Apostolos Paraskevas, Carl Reinecke, Tristan Murail, Charles-Marie Widor and
Aaron Jackson himself, doing a double appearance as composer and performer.
The program will feature some of the most famous and local faces in the literature, but also feet! This program, built around the
Boston prémiere of Tristan Murail's "Le Fou a pates bleues" is based on the blue-footed booby, the ornithological resident of the Galapagos; also,
Aaron Jackson's "Down the Stream" will encourage the audience to use their sea-legs in this river themed work; Carl Reinecke's Sonata "Undine" will close the second half, and will reminisce all who hear it of the fantastical world of underwater creatures, while sonically representing the work of Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué which inspired "The
Little Mermaid." Finally, the feet spring into action - at least symbolically - with Widor's Suite, op 34., a very rare work by this composer for this instrumentation. Widor was an extremely accomplished organist and a composer who was at the vanguard of the French revival of organ music during the later part of the 19th century.
