Las Vegas, NV (Top40 Charts/ Desert Hotel Films) Sonny Turner, the former lead singer of the
Platters announced today at his official blog that he will be featured in a documentary focusing on his life, career, and legacy.
The
Platters who were in the news recently due to the death of founding member Herb Reed, had a string of top ten hits in the 1950's. The group members have been shrouded in controversy for years after various legal battles related to the use of the
Platters name. This topic among others will be discussed in the documentary to be titled "The Great Pretenders: Will the Real
Platters Please Stand Up".
The producers of the film, Arianne Limbrick and Jennifer Van Gessel from Desert Hotel Films stated, "We're really excited about working with
Sonny and telling his story, we think he needs to get the recognition he deserves".
The documentary is in pre-production with a release set for the first half of 2013.
