LONDON, UK (Top40 Charts/ ICMP) Two acts from the Institute will now be performing alongside music legends at the Hop Farm Festival thanks to a competition organised by the Institute in conjunction with Power's Bar.

The heats for the competition were held at Power's Bar in Kilburn throughout May, with one band and one songwriter ultimately winning Friday slots on the prestigious Power's Bar Stage at the festival which is being held in Kent on 29 June-1st July.

The Vacations, featuring two current BMus students and two songwriting alumni, won the bands round and are looking forward to bringing their 'quirky, happy go lucky, indie pop' to the farm. Singer Joe Thom said "we're very pleased to have the chance to play at Hop Farm alongside so many great acts, thanks to the Institute and Power's Bar."

Bobby Evans' talents shined through as he won the Songwriters' slot. He was particularly surprised to have won, saying: "I still can't quite believe it, to be honest. It's a fantastic festival, with so many of my heroes on the line-up!" Bobby started at the Institute in September having won the Shure Songwriting Competition, with the prize of a full scholarship on the Cert HE in Songwriting, which is expanding to become a full BA (Hons) in Songwriting in September 2012.

The Vacations and Bobby Evans (performing as Bobby Good), now have their names on the bill alongside legendary artists such as Bob Dylan, Primal Scream, Suede and Damien Rice.

Other Institute artists playing at the Festival are alumni George Frakes, Raphaella and Tutor Jay Stapley accompanying his daughter Kate.
