Grouplove have secured the #1 spot on the
Modern Rock radio chart with their hit single, "Tongue Tied." The Los Angeles based band will be performing "
Tongue Tied" on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno tomorrow night, and NBC's Today on July 9th.
Featured on the band's critically acclaimed debut album "NEVER TRUST A HAPPY SONG," "
Tongue Tied" has been on the
Modern Rock chart for 26 consecutive weeks before taking the top slot, and is already beginning its ascent up the CHR/Top 40 and Billboard Hot 100 charts. "
Tongue Tied" was an early favorite of NPR's All Songs Considered and SiriusXM's AltNation, was recently heralded as one of the "Greatest Songs of Summer" by Entertainment Weekly. Last month, the cast of FOX's "Glee" performed a memorable cover of "
Tongue Tied" during the hit series' May 15th episode. Earlier this year,
Grouplove delivered a raucous performance of the song on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live, following previous late night television appearances on CBS' Late Show with
David Letterman, NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly, and TBS' CONAN. "
Tongue Tied" appeared in a wildly popular Apple iPod Touch commercial late last year to kick off the song's campaign.
Grouplove just completed a major headline tour that also featured stops at some of the year's biggest music gatherings, including the Coachella
Music and Arts Festival, Sasquatch
Music Festival, and Bonnaroo
Music and Arts Festival. The band will continue to perform at various music festivals and radio shows throughout summer, before joining
Mumford & Sons for their "Gentlemen of the Road" Stopover in Monterey, CA, on August 25 (see itinerary below).
