"What an absolutely amazing experience - creating my own station for Slacker Radio," said Daniel Powter. "Having the opportunity to program a radio station gave me the chance to create a playlist of tunes I have loved since I was a child, and I deeply thank Slacker for the opportunity. These tunes and artists influenced me the most and created wonderment that is still with me."

This Artist Showcase station features songs hand-selected by Daniel Powter from bands and artists including Jeff Buckley, Annie Lennox, Billy Joel, Nick Drake and Eurythmics. Daniel's music is showcased on the station as well, including tracks from his new album Turn on the Lights.

Daniel also provides exclusive and entertaining commentary on tracks he finds most influential, sharing the personal stories behind his favorite songs - including the artist that made piano "cool" for him and the risqué Prince album that his parents bought for him.

"Daniel Powter truly loves what he does," said Scott Riggs, senior director of radio at Slacker. "Daniel's curated Artist Showcase station reflects the passion he has for music while sharing great, relatable stories of discovering and developing that passion with his family."

About Daniel Powter
Daniel Powter creates music the way most people breathe—it's simply what he does as a way of getting along. People started listening—in the tens of millions—in 2006, when Powter's song "Bad Day" became a worldwide smash, one that Billboard named the top Hot 100 song of that year.

Powter's new album, Turn on the Lights, is an effervescent set of summer-ready pop songs about life, love and what happens in between. Powter composed many of the songs at home on piano, and as a result the music began flowing more freely than it had in years.

Produced by veteran hitmaker Howard Benson (Kelly Clarkson, Gavin DeGraw, All-American Rejects) at his Bay 7 Studios in Los Angeles, Turn on the Lights catches Powter in a soulful, irresistibly uplifting mood. That's the vibe he'll continue to provide this year on the road, where Powter says he couldn't be more excited to return.

Until recently, Daniel Powter fans might've thought they knew what he was all about. With Turn on the Lights, he's got a lot more to show.
