Critically Acclaimed Rock & Roll Musical Hedwig And The Angry Inch Starring Donovan Leitch Returns To The Roxy Theatre On Sunset November 1-7
LOS ANGELES (Top40 Charts/ MSO PR) The critically acclaimed rock & roll musical HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH starring Donovan Leitch returns to The Roxy Theatre on Sunsetfor a week-long residency November 1-7. The show first premiered at The Roxy in 2006 and is back by popular demand. Tickets are on sale now here with a portion of the proceeds going to The Trevor Project, the leading national organization for crisis intervention and suicide prevention amongst LGBTQ youth.

Adapted from the 1998 off-Broadway musical written by John Cameron Mitchell, Hedwig and the Angry Inch is the story of an East Berlin boy named Hansel who undergoes a sex change operation after falling in love with an American G.I. Years later, Hansel (now Hedwig) ends up in the United States, leading her rock band on tour and telling the story of her life through a series of concerts at Bilgewater Inn Seafood Restaurants. The musical has been performed worldwide numerous times and was also released as a successful film in 2001.

This live musical performance features monologues about Hedwig's childhood, his journey to the U.S., his marriage to Luther, and the story of Tommy Gnosis. This latest stage interpretation at The Roxy will again star Donovan Leitch (of Camp Freddy) as Hedwig and Kristin Lee Kelly (of the original stage production) as Yitzak, Hedwig's back-up singer and whipping boy. Watch a trailer from the 2006 run here:https://theroxyonsunset.com/?p=8611.

"This is my third time playing Hedwig and each time it is a transformative experience for the audience as well as myself," says LEITCH. "It's the greatest rock musical since Rocky Horror Picture Show."

The 2006 run attracted the likes of Scott Weiland, Kelly Osbourne, Danny Masterson, Mark McGrath, Milla Jovovich, Juliette Lewis, Dylan MacDermott, Taryn Manning, Paris and Nicki Hilton, Ricki Lake, Ione Skye, designer Henry Duarte, rock band Incubus and more.

The media also praised the show. Steven Oxman of Variety wrote, "Leitch establishes a highly convincing combination of glamour and trashiness for Hedwig, and a certain underlying happiness that feels like more than just a veneer…Leitch also brings undeniable verve to the role, and the show is most alive when he's rocking at full volume, aided by the band, a ragtag lot in mohawks and big ties. In this production, the most memorable, forceful songs are not the love ballads or the philosophical melodies, but the fully spirited numbers, such as the playful 'Sugar Daddy' and the punkishly pointed 'Angry Inch'…this remains arguably the most offbeat, upbeat and satisfying theatrical work of the last decade." (3/30/06)

Elsewhere, Victor of LosAnjealous.com noted, "The show is fast becoming a bonified part of the rock n' roll testament, soon to be mentioned in the same breath with Rocky Horror." (6/6/06)

As David C. Nichols of the Los Angeles Times said, "The wig is back. Long live the wig." (3/28/06)
