RECORD OF THE WEEK
Muse - Butterflies And Hurricanes: Imagine a band, a really good band, a band good enough to be the best in the world. Then imagine this band managed to get attention almost everywhere apart from UK Singles Chart. Well luckily I don't have to imagine this band (although sadly OCC still have to), Muse really do rule. The majestically epic 'Butterflies and Hurricanes' which could have been so cheesy and unspectacular but is in fact the complete opposite and turns out inspiring and beautiful. The lyrics may sound cheesy and fake on paper but are spectacular when coupled with the song and Bellamy's expert delivery and turn out to be the best written on the album.
Bellamy also gives one of his best performances on this track - especially with his instrumentation including a section which is just a piano solo which is a very strange thing to find in a rock album and which is nothing but a healthy surprise. The song has an amazingly flow to it and builds up perfectly to the last minute or so which is just out and out excess. That's why this song will fail to enter in the UK Top - 5 like all the decent songs by British musicians in the last 10 years.

HOT SHOT RECORD
Alcazar - This Is The World We Live In: Very catchy track, love the corus and the euphoric video clip and dance moves. you are going to love to dance to it! Dianna Ross mixed with Phil Collins/Genisis: this song mixes samples from "Upside Down" and "Land Of Confussion". Who would have thought it could work? I have to admit that it's quite catchy. I wondered what had happened to Alcazar, and now I know. Not bad at all for the newest 'ABBA' version which is coming from Sweden like the originals! And like fellow Scandinavian Agnetha Faltskog, remix credits on this disc go to Almighty and Soundfactory.

Client - Radio: Client have played several times at their monthly Being Boiled night at the Notting Hill Arts Club. Really good song, and my favourite of their new stuff so far. Very emotional, with clever lyrics and a great sound. Which was the era we had a real good Pop FEMALE band on our UK Singles Chart and UK Music Industry? I can't remember after the 90s something special.. These two-femmes group are: Client A (Kate Holmes, also she has a sizeable - if less pop-chart pedigree but DJ experience) and Client B (aka Sarah Blackwood, formerly of Dubstar). 'Radio' is the second single to be taken from the second Client's album (forthcoming), 'City' and follows the first single, 'In It For The Money'. The single is written by Client and produced by Client and Joe Wilson (Sneaker Pimps, Trash Money). 'City' album features collaborations with Pete Doherty and Carl Barat of The Libertines and Martin Gore of Depeche Mode.

Donny Osmond - Breeze On By: Having heard Donny Osmond sing this uplifting song at his recent concert in the UK, I must say i was extremely impressed. His voice has matured beyond belief and he certainly knows how to impress his audience. When listening to this song on the radio you can't help but sing along to the easy chilled out lyrics. If you need a " lift" on a typical british cloudy day, I can recommend this to brighten your day. The 80s are living again on our charts!

Fatboy Slim - Slash Dot Slash: Taken from his new album 'Palookaville', 'Slash Dot Dash' was always Norman Cook's choice for first single. The biggest and dumbest track off the whole album. Repetitive samples and monstrous guitars. This is the right calling card. Fatboy Slim back in business! This should remind everyone what they have been missing.
Norman Cook comments: "'Slash Dot Dash' is a mix of old and new Fatboy. There is repetition but this time the track actually has live guitars! The plan was to throw in a bit of Buzzcocks and The White Stripes. The track is just a comment on this new language people seem to have - although I don't even own a computer. Well, I do, the Atari in my studio, but no one ever sent me an email on that!".

Ian Brown - Keep What Ya Got: It's basically Noel's old song Teotihuacan (or whatever it was called) with Ian Brown singing over the top. It's a great song, it really should be on the new Oasis album (there's no reason why Liam couldn't sing it!) Filming the video, Noel is quoted to have said "It's funny. I'm spending half the video looking for him. I have his number on my phone. Why didn't i just ring him?" 'Keep what ya got' will be released on enhanced cd and 7" and B-side of the 7" will be a new track called 'love bug'.

Mark Knopfler - Boom Like That: Recorded in California (US) earlier this year, Mark's fourth solo album, entitled 'Shangri-La,' is now available in the stores for pre-orders. The CD single is a great art-work and it is manufactured to look like a 7' vinyl release, complete with 'grooves.' It contains 2 tracks, 'Boom, Like That' and a song called 'Summer of Love' which was recorded in the Shangri-La session in Malibu but did not make it onto the album track list. There will also be a 7' vinyl single release, containing 2 tracks: a-side, 'Boom, Like That' and 'Who's Your Baby Now' recorded live at Massey Hall, Toronto, Canada in 2001.
The track is really outstanding: the blues feelin', it searches the roots of British music - it is just hearing Rolling Stones, Cream or Beatles on their first age. This is a great change for the UK Singles Charts (If this track charted ever...)

Paul McCartney - Tropic Island Hum/We All Stand Together: "Paul McCartney – The Music And Animation Collection" features three short animated films with original music and performances by Paul McCartney. Each is less than 15 minutes long: "Tropic Island Hum," "Rupert and the Frog Song," and "Tuesday."
The first film is "Tropic Island Hum". It tells the tale of Wirral, a squirrel on the run from hunters. He barely escapes being shot thanks to Froggo, a frog in a hot air balloon. Froggo takes him to a tropical island paradise filled with other animals that have also been hunted or mistreated. Led by Chief Bison, they sing a song about their life in paradise. An instantly catchy song (including the George Martin-arranged top five British single, We All Stand Together, a sing-song so appealing, don't be surprised if you start bomp-bomp-bomp-ing to yourself during a work lull or household chores in days to come), there's something for everyone.

Tom Jones feat. Jools Holland - It'll Be Me: Tom Jones and Jools Holland's single "It'll Be Me" will be released on Monday 20th September, with the new album, "Tom Jones & Jools Holland", following a week later. On 21st September, Tom Jones and Jools Holland join together for a unique and exclusive concert for Radio 2 at Hammersmith Palais. This concert will be broadcast in November, 2004.
It is (probably) the collaboration of the year! A roots rock 'n' roll album, it will have exactly the same effect on you as it did on them; make you remember why you loved music in the first place! Recommended.
