SXSW Presents: Rossana Taddei - (Sounds Of Uruguay) - March 12 At The Speakeasy
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ ER:M+M) Rossana Taddei was born in Montevideo in 1969. She and her family moved to Lugano (Switzerland) one year later, where they remained until 1981 before returning to Uruguay. That is the place where her musical career starts. She is basically self-taught and has complemented her career by taking singing and clarinet lessons.

Her marvelous voice allowed her to participate as guest artist with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Montevideo (2012-2013), Vicentico (2011), Paulinho Moska (2010), as well as concerts of Gloria Gaynor (1999, Punta del Este), Leo Masliah (2007), and as opening act for concerts of Gal Costa in Montevideo (2000) and Pedro Guerra (2005).

To this date, Rossana has released 13 records, both as soloist as well as in collaboration with other musicians. She is currently working on her new album of new songs, called "Pescando en el cielo".

Her music is cosmopolitan, a mix of rhythms of popular music of Uruguay, rock, jazz and Italian music.

In June 2008, Rossana participated with her band at the thirtieth edition of the Lugano Jazz Festival (in Switzerland), an event with performances from great artists such as Marcus Miller, Richard Bona, Jimmy Cliff and Buddy Guy, among others.

During the last few years, she has developed a project called MINIMALmambo, together with drummer and percussionist, Gustavo Etchenique, an experienced Uruguayan musician who has participated by performing as well as recording albums with great singer/songwriters. In 2011, this line-up has recorded a live record during the event called Ciclo de Autores en Vivo, in Uruguay.

With this Project, MINIMALmambo, they have so far performed on different stages and in different countries: Uruguay, Switzerland, Spain, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil and Italy. Their shows draw from a broad repertoire that stems from Rossana's discography, and at each concert they present special guests and perform new versions from a Latin American, Rio de la Plata and Italian repertoire.

Rossana also writes music for plays and to this date has composed original music for 5 highly relevant plays in her country.

Make sure to check it out in Austin, TX at the SXSW on March 12 at the Speakeasy.
