Zydeco Roots Artist Terrance Simien Wins Grammy, Announces International Tour Dates And National Distribution Deal
New York, NY (Top40 Charts / 965 Music Group) At this year's 56th Annual GRAMMY™ Awards, Zydeco favorite Terrance Simien & the Zydeco Experience took home the "Best American Roots Album" GRAMMY™ for Dockside Sessions, released independently via Simien's MusicMatters Records. Following Dockside Sessions' GRAMMY™ win, legendary record distributor Select-O-Hits, Inc. joined the Zydeco buzz and picked up the album for distribution. Simien's recent success is one of three major Zydeco milestones in 2014: Clifton Chenier received the Lifetime Achievement Award from The Recording Academy, and Buckwheat Zydeco is the official honoree for the exclusive New Orleans Jazz Fest's 16th Annual Jazz & Heritage Gala.

In support of Dockside Sessions and Simien's continued mission to spread Zydeco's growing presence, the group has announced upcoming tour dates throughout 2014. Highlight performances include a 28th consecutive performance at New Orleans Jazz Fest - where Simien will perform at the aforementioned gala honoring Buckwheat Zydeco - and a headlining slot at Byron Bay Bluesfest in Australia immediately prior to country icon Jason Isbell. In addition to main stage performances, Simien has also established himself as a respected teaching artist and cultural advocate through Creole for Kidz & the History of Zydeco. This dynamic, educational outreach program has reached over 500,000 K-12 students, teachers and families at schools and venues worldwide. The program educates audiences about Louisiana's rich musical history through personal engagement, full production performances and a variety of residency activities. The program has been featured at some of the most prestigious performing arts theatres and events ranging from Berklee College of Music, Boston to Playhouse Square, Cleveland and at most of the major Canadian International Children's Festivals.
