Fourtitude Release Debut Album 'Folk Legend'
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) The alt-rock crew known as Fourtitude have released their debut LP record, "Folk Legend." The album is comprised of 11 original tracks for an approximate total listening time of 45 minutes. It has been released independent of support from the corporate music industry. One of the first and best examples of a legitimate return to the garage-rock sound of the 1990s, Fourtitude's "Folk Legend" has moments both of great tenderness and unrestrained aggression.

Fourtitude cite as main artistic influences the Beatles, Nirvana, Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins, and Pink Floyd. Various attributes of each appear clearly throughout "Folk Legend," often fading into one another from song to song, or even from movement to movement in the same track. Audiophiles will note the sudden clear-channel switch of Weezer, the driving punch of Smashing Pumpkins circa Siamese Dream, and even some chest-tearing vocals that recall the unashamed and unforgiving screeches of Kurt Cobain.

Speaking of the themes written into "Folk Legend," Fourtitude write that it's about: "Not letting the past weigh you down, preventing your ascent into the future. What does it mean to be somebody versus nobody? Having the courage to be yourself when being yourself isn't popular. The worthlessness of consumerism."

On a lighter note, however, "It is also a musical biography of ourselves during our college years, through the eyes of a former band mate. The places we've been and the people we know, and all of our fears, insecurities, legends, and demons."

The "Folk Legend" record was recorded at a band member's house over the course of two months. The official Fourtitude bio states that "'Folk Legend' is a story about growing up, going to college, discovering yourself, and eventually moving on. It was recorded on a budget of less than 400 dollars, and is considered by the band members to be a true concept album."

Joshua Smotherman of Middle Tennessee Music writes, "'Folk Legend' is a journey through human growth in the form of 90s-alt-rock sonic goodness."

"Folk Legend" by Fourtitude is available online worldwide.
