Dave Mason Premieres New Version Of "Dear Mr. Fantasy" - The First Track Off His New Album
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) DAVE MASON-Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and TRAFFIC co-founding member-premiered the first track "Dear Mr. Fantasy" from his new album, FUTURE'S PAST (Something Music/MRI) on USATODAY.com. FUTURE'S PAST-available everywhere May 13-features new versions of his classic songs plus new material that MASON has written and performed on tour over the last few years.
Listen to there-interpreted version of "Dear Mr. Fantasy" below:

"It ["Dear Mr. Fantasy"] came about redoing the chords," MASONtellsUSATODAY.com of the bluesy rewrite. "I was doing some shows and I was trying to think of something to make it a little more interesting, so I just started playing around with it. I put it in a minor key instead of a major key, and I sort of developed it from there.

Of the new album release, MASON says, "There is a version of 'World in Changes' that is absolutely nothing like the original and there is a great live version that is absolutely beautiful of 'Sad and Deep as You.' There are two or three songs that were on a CD called that I did seven years ago, a Robert Johnson song, 'Come On in My Kitchen' and a brand new song called 'That's Freedom.'"

Fans can help market and promote FUTURE'S PAST through MASON's Pledge Music Campaign. Pledgers not only receive the expanded new album package but also exclusive updates directly from MASON. There are a wide range of exclusive items, from signed vinyl to articles of clothing direct from Dave's personal wardrobe, even some unique photos from MASON's past.
