Jam-Packed With Rock And Alt-Rock Talent, Indie Anthems Vol. 5 Nails The Genres
New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ WiFi PR Group) Rock music has been a prevalent genre since its inception, and no indie compilation would be complete without a handful of promising rock artists. WiFi PR Group's Indie Anthems Vol. 5 is no exception, and the album features several different rock and alt-rock groups for music fans' listening pleasure.

The Indie Anthems series always features a number of different genres on each album, but Vol. 5 was the most expansive release yet with 40 total artists—double the amount normally on an Indie Anthems record. Two genres that are well-represented are rock and alt-rock, fronted by such as artists as The Scorseses, Pharaohs Playground, Tiger & the Rogues, Analog Heart, Velshur and Roymackonkey.

Each of these artists contributed a track to WiFi PR Group's recent compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 5, a massive collection of international independent talent that WiFi PR wants to put on the radars of music fans and industry tastemakers the world over. Released at Coachella, this digital mixtape was handed out on 3,500 download cards to festival attendees, and another 1,500 download copies are now available on the Indie Anthems Vol. 5 Bandcamp website.

The Scorseses are quite possibly the most colorful group on this list with a lineup that is packed with brass instrumentation and a sound that is as bright and high-energy as it is funky and danceable. Having recently released their debut full-length recording, Magnumopus (2013), this New Orleans-based band is often compared to such musicians as Bob Marley, Sublime and RX Bandits, a sound which can be heard on their featured track, "The Assembly Line."

After spending 3 Days in the Belly of a Whale (2014), Brisbane rock trio Pharaohs Playground emerged with a refined sound that celebrated everything old-school and analog about unfiltered alt-rock music, particularly on their featured song, "Soul Crusher." The group is most often compared to artists such as Black Crowes and Powderfinger, thought they are also inspired by musicians like ZZ Top, ACDC and Jimi Hendrix.

As Tiger & the Rogues continue to work on new material, one of their latest tracks, "Troublemaker," straight from the minds and hearts of this Sydney band, will be featured on the album. The band exudes a fresh take on rock with a woman's touch to create a sound that is both edgy and complementary to the essence of true rock 'n' roll.

On their track "Elephant Song," Boston natives Analog Heart share a taste of rock that sounds like Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Paramore and The Killers, and their lead singer's voice is often compared to Janis Joplin. The singer's powerful vocals ring out over the band's vibrant backing sound that propels rock 'n' roll and alt-rock into the 21st century and which is often compared to the Rolling Stones and Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Hailing from Byron Bay, Australia, Velshur is a quartet of musicians who deliver a bright and funky groove that brings a catchy, danceable feel to the alt-rock genre. Having been inspired by musicians like Mahavishnu Orchestra and Jimi Hendrix, the group has a sound, particularly in their featured track "Spanish Sound," that resembles Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Dandy Warhols and The Strokes.

Roymackonkey use rock 'n' roll as a vehicle for speaking to the lonely and brokenhearted, producing a soulful sound with a yearning for passion and connection with the audience, harkening back to artists such as Soundgarden, Tool, Faith No More and Powderfinger. This Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia band combines a wide range of influences in their featured, award-winning track, "Great Divide."

These artists and many more can be heard on WiFi PR Group's Indie Anthems Vol. 5, the latest in a series of albums that showcase quickly rising stars for the indie music world.
