New York, NY (Top40 Charts/ Imagine PR) - GroundScore is the new kid on Washington, DC's esteemed punk-rock block. The band fuse powerful reggae rhythms and distortion-laden guitars, laid over driving dynamic drum styles which draw you into an infectious dance vibe. Come for the party, and stay for the thoughtful lyrics that meditate on life, friendship, the price of excess, and the state of today's youth. Heavily influenced by the Godfathers of their genre, particularly the Bad Brains and Sublime, the band are building up an impressive fan following through touring and supporting well-known acts such as cult-rockers Clutch. The party-hard players are now set to headline their own shows, showcasing tracks from their debut album 'Healthy Children'.

The band's debut album 'Healthy Children' powerfully showcases the band's versatility and myriad musical influences. The album title refers to the irony of the modern American dream, and how the self-destructive and damaging behavior of today's youth contrasts dramatically with the simple ideal of raising happy and productive children. Why are we so adverse to being 'healthy children'? Stand out tracks on the album include 'Gifts In The Corner' which encompasses the essence of the GroundScore sound, 'See You All Tomorrow', an ode to friendship and fragmented party memories, and 'Hey Kidz/ Real Love', an epic seven minute journey that dives deep into the depression and hopelessness of the human condition, then becomes optimistic and peaceful as it sifts out the significant.

Formed in 2008, the band consists of frontman and guitarist Zach Bellas, drummer Chase Lapp and bassist Nick Graves. The band evolved from spontaneous jam-happy party sessions, where the trio soon realized their potential as a group and hit the road. Each band member brings a different musical influence to the table. Chase grew up listening to classic rock such as Hendrix, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, and Zeppelin, and later got into Nirvana and Metallica. Nick was brought up on bluegrass, and then turned to the sounds of Tom Petty, Pink Floyd, Buju Banton and Electric Six later in life. Zach, on the other hand, immersed himself in punk-rock culture in his teens, listening to The Dead Kennedys, Crass, NOFX, The Misfits, Operation Ivy, Bad Religion, The Descendents, as well as DC's own Minor Threat and Bad Brains. Many of these bands melded punk with the island sounds of reggae and ska into their music, which turned Zach onto reggae legends like King Tubby, Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Bob Marley, and UB40.

This fun-loving, laid-back trio are set to become a firm favorite on the DC music scene. So stop, listen, and join the party.
