The Low Anthem Signs To Washington Square
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Washington Square Music announces the signing of innovative folk rockers The Low Anthem to a worldwide label deal. The band is set to release their fourth studio album this spring as a follow up to the highly acclaimed Smart Flesh and Oh My God, Charlie Darwin, followed by extensive touring in the U.S. and abroad.
"We were gazing dreamily at a river when Beth from Washington Square called us back up to the Big Leagues, says The Low Anthems Jeff Prystowsky. We are super psyched to hit the road again with a new work."
We are very excited to work with the Low Anthem, adds Washington Square Co-Owner Cliff Chenfeld. They have a unique artistic vision that is inspiring and engaging. We look forward to helping them bring that vision to an appreciative audience.
Providence, Rhode Islands The Low Anthem formed in 2006 where founding members Ben Knox Miller and Jeffrey Prystowsky met through late night college radio, later becoming baseball teammates and eventually bandmates. They began making their idiosyncratic bedroom folk in 2007, best friends constructing something altogether new from old musical traditions. Since formation the band has released three albums, each created in unique recording spaces. The bands most recent release Smart Flesh (Bella Union), recorded in an abandoned pasta sauce factory, received critical acclaim from outlets like Paste, NPR, Rolling Stone and The AV Club amongst others. The Low Anthem has performed on such shows as The Late Show with David Letterman and Later with Jools Holland. They have toured with numerous artists including The Avett Brothers as well as opening for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, The National, Emmylou Harris and Bon Iver.
The Low Anthem is Ben Knox Miller, Jeff Prystowsky, Florence Grace Wallis, and Bryan Minto. The Low Anthem is managed by Danny Goldberg of Gold Village Entertainment and represented for touring by Marty Diamond of Paradigm (US and Canada) and Nick Holroyd of Primary Talent (UK and Europe).
The Low Anthem is the latest signing to Washington Square, the alternative-leaning imprint formed by Razor & Tie. The band joins label mates My Jerusalem, MOTHXR, Austin Plaine and Soren Bryce.
