Body-Positive Hip Hop Rising Superstar Lizzo Readies To Take Over The Dinah With Her Feel-Good Revolution
New York, NY (Top40 Charts) Bold and brassy one minute and devastatingly sincere the next, Lizzo is an artist that defies easy definition.
A gifted rapper, a hair-raising gospel singer, a razor-sharp wordsmith, a classically trained flautist, she is also a passionate advocate for feminism and black empowerment.

Lizzo is a hard-touring road warrior who is equally capable of winning over audiences in London, Paris, New York, and her hometown of Minneapolis. And she is now taking her hip hop chops and body-positive message to the Dinah, the world's largest lesbian event in the world.

The Houston-bred, Minneapolis-based rapper/vocalist released last fall her highly anticipated major-label debut, Coconut Oil, via Atlantic records . The EP was produced by pop super-producer Ricky Reed (Meghan Trainor, Jason Derulo) and features her 2016 breakout singles "Good As Hell" & "Phone", and the just released track "Scuse Me."

LIzzo, born Melissa Jefferson, recently kicked off the next leg of her Coconut Oil tour, which she is now taking to Palm Springs on Saturday April 1 for an exclusive one night only live performance at the Dinah.

On her way to conquer the world, she's also been taking over TV screens as a host of MTV's new live-music show Wonderland and the 2016 VMAs pre-show.
While she confidently stands as role model to many women for her feminist songs about body image and self-respect, she's also found fans in legendary male musicians including the late Prince who enlisted her to perform on his PLECTRUMELECTRUM track "BOYTROUBLE", Sleater Kiney and Outkast's Andre 3000.

Widely acclaimed for her powerhouse vocal skills and equally potent lyrical message, Lizzo went made her stellar debut in 2013 with "LIZZOBANGERS," earning international accolades from such media outlets as Time, which named Lizzo to its "14 Bands and Artists To Watch" list.
"BIG GRRRL SMALL WORLD", a critical favorite among indie tastemakers, followed in 2015, affirming Lizzo as an iconic contemporary rapper and hip hop force of nature.

Celebrating who you are has long been Lizzo's MO. Thanks to her self-care/self-love themed songs and emotionally charged lyrics, she's become the new queen of body-positive self-acceptance anthems.

Lizzo's music - a melting pot of genres, mixing in pop, funk, R&B, Alternative and Hip-Hop - is a testament to this growing movement. And her messages continue and expand from the studio to public events and media interviews.

"The 2017 Dinah is a celebration of all women who inspire, break stereotypes, and remind us that we women continue to be a powerful force with which to be reckoned. Our women's movement will not allow the rewind button to be hit unless it's to replay a Lizzo song. Lizzo joins The Dinah 2017 line up as the perfect example of a powerful woman defining her career her way, on her terms. We celebrate her and all women inspired by her," says Mariah Hanson, founder and producer of the Dinah.

As Vibe Magazine proclaims: "this new wave of feminism and girl power, a new leader has stepped up: Lizzo"
