Austin, TX (Top40 Charts/ King Easy) Bob Cheevers' musical legacy reaches back at least three generations. His Grandmother played guitar and piano. And his Mom was a radio star during the 20's/30's singing and playing piano with the big bands. For Cheevers, starting a band in college was the no-turning-back point followed by major label recording and publishing deals, which were Bob's entree to Hollywood when he moved to California after his college years. More of Bob's "claims to fame" include helping build the stage for the Rolling Stones at Altamont, accompanying Johnny Cash on what would be Cash's final tour, and the creme de la creme - having used the toilet at Elvis' Graceland mansion in 1963. Bob grew up in Memphis and lived in Los Angeles, having success in the late 60's with a Top 40 Charting pop career including singing lead on the TV theme "Love American Style", spending 16 years as a journeyman songwriter in Nashville, and now Austin...four of America's premier music cities. Cheevers has won the Kerrville Folk Festival and Napa Valley Festival contests, has written over 3000 songs, and released eight commercial CDs (two of which were Euro-Americana top 10, and US Americana top 20,) and he has a total of 8 Emmys including "Best Musical Composition." Bob recently released his most compelling work to date - TALL TEXAS TALES.

Bob has ten years straight of touring Europe doing 50-60 concerts each tour, including headlining France's The Passion Western Fete Festival, where he is known as "The Godfather of country/western." Maverick Magazine claims Cheevers is "The hardest working touring artist in the UK." Bob says "this most recent award is actually the pinnacle for me. I AM a singer/songwriter and much of who I am is about that. Interesting that so much time was put into booking and touring Europe...3-4 months to book a tour then 2-3 months to do it, come back home, recoup, write some songs and start booking the next one. I lost my place on the radar in the US. I kept thinking "If I applied myself in my own country as much as I applied myself across the pond, I might be able to get back in the game here". Shazaam...two years later I win the Texas Music Award for singer/songwriter of the year. And I've been in Texas less than 4 years.

When you listen to Bob Cheevers (whose fans proudly call themselves Cheevers Believers"), you hear a singer/songwriter at the top of his game. According to Stephen Doster, who produced TALL TEXAS TALES using Austin's A-list players, "Bob came to Texas, looked around and began to write about the things he saw. His observations about Texas made me wanna go there...and I'm FROM Texas. Not only is TALL TEXAS TALES a wonderful travelogue of my great state, it is full of songs that could only be written by a man whose life is rich with experience and deep insight. Bob Cheevers is an American classic...make no mistake about it." Cheevers says "so often songs are given to the writer...the writer just being a conduit for information. Some things need to be said for the people who feel them but don't have the words to express their feelings."

"I don't know if these stories are true, but they happened to me." - Bob Cheevers
