Los Angeles, CA (Top40 Charts/ VH1) - VH1 has renewed its three-year contract with the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) and will air the "Critics' Choice Movie Awards" through 2013. This year marks the fourth straight year the network will televise the event and the second straight year that it will take place at the Hollywood Palladium. In addition, Den of Thieves' Jesse Ignjatovic has joined as executive producer straight from his record breaking success of the "2010 MTV Video Music Awards" which drew 11.4 million viewers. This is also the first year the show will also be broadcast internationally. The 16th annual "Critics' Choice Movie Awards" air live on Friday, January 14, 2011 at 9:00 PM ET/PT on VH1.

The "Critics' Choice Movie Awards" are bestowed annually by the BFCA to honor the finest in cinematic achievement. Since its inception in 1995, the "Critics' Choice Movie Awards" has been a star-studded bellwether event of the movie awards season. The BFCA consistently picks nominees and winners that go on to garner more Academy Award nominations and wins than the Golden Globes or any other movie awards shows. All four major acting category winners at the Academy Awards in 2010 were first "Critics' Choice Movie Awards" winners in the same categories and were present at the January 15, 2010 ceremony to graciously give their fist acceptance speeches of the awards season. The BFCA also recognized "The Hurt Locker" for "Best Picture" and Kathryn Bigelow as "Best Director," making her the first female to win the award. "The Hurt Locker" and Bigelow also went on to win the Academy Award for "Best Picture" and "Best Director" but were both overlooked at the Golden Globes.

The "Critics' Choice Movie Awards" is the first televised movie award show of the year. With its notable history of picking the most deserving nominees and winners, it provides television viewers with their first opportunity to see all the top awards season contenders in one place. Nominations for the 16th annual "Critics' Choice Movie Awards" will be announced on Monday, December 13, 2010.

The 2010 "Critics' Choice Movie Awards" were held at the famous Hollywood Palladium and was hosted by Kristin Chenoweth. Nominees and presenters in attendance at the show included: Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Bigelow, Ryan Bingham, Neill Blomkamp, Emily Blunt, Jeff Bridges, T-Bone Burnett, Sandra Bullock, James Cameron, Cedric the Entertainer, Bradley Cooper, Rob Corddry, Abbie Cornish, Marion Cotillard, Matt Damon, Claire Danes, Lee Daniels, Peter Docter, Josh Duhamel, Zac Efron, Vera Farmiga, Tom Ford, Morgan Freeman, Heather Graham, Woody Harrelson, Jae Head, Ed Helms, Nick Hornby, Samuel L. We're very happy to partner again with Joey Berlin and the BFCA in creating innovative, entertaining shows that celebrate the best of film," said Tom Calderone, President, VH1.

"The BFCA is thrilled about extending our partnership with VH1, which has been instrumental in the explosive growth of the 'Critics' Choice Movie Awards' into the must-attend kickoff event of the Hollywood awards season," said Joey Berlin, President, BFCA.
