Wiz Khalifa Is Triumphant At The 2011 BET Awards; Acclaimed Rapper Crowned 'Best New Artist' After Debut Album 'Rolling Papers' Goes Gold
NEW YORK, NY (Top40 Charts/ Atlantic Records) Rostrum/Atlantic Records recording artist Wiz Khalifa was among the big winners at last night's 2011 BET Awards, taking home the prestigious title of "Best New Artist." Last night's victory comes after what has been a whirlwind year for the 23-year old rapper.

SPIN.com recently named Khalifa's "Rolling Papers Tour" as one of their "Best Summer Tours," calling the Pittsburgh native, "a star ready for even bigger stages." The 40-city North American tour kicked off with a performance at this year's Bonnaroo Festival, and will wrap in the rapper's hometown of Pittsburgh, PA on August 6th for what is sure to be a showstopping ending to an already critically-acclaimed tour.

Wiz' win at the 2011 BET Awards is just another achievement for the rapper, whose major label debut, "ROLLING PAPERS" recently became RIAA-certified gold. His second single "Roll Up," recently reached platinum status, joining the already 3X platinum smash single, "Black And Yellow."

Over the last year, Khalifa has without a doubt become one of the rap game's shining stars with cover stories in major publications including Rolling Stone, The Source, VIBE, Complex, FADER, Dub and Urban Ink, and high-energy performances on The Late Show with David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Lopez Tonight and The Mo'Nique Show. The rapper's major label debut album, "ROLLING PAPERS," which was released in March, debuted at No 2 on Billboard's "Top 200 Albums" chart, while topping both the "Top R&B" and "Top Rap" charts.
