Washington, D.C. (Top40 Charts/ Kirsten Fedewa & Assoc.) - World renowned Tenor Anthony Kearns brought Irish holiday cheer to Washington, D.C. on Thurs., Dec. 17, 2009 at a special solo performance for members of Congress, media, and V.I.P. guests. Ireland's Ambassador to the United States, The Honorable E. Michael Collins, introduced Kearns, calling him a "great Ambassador for Ireland." "It's an honor to perform before a Congressional audience and to celebrate Ireland's rich cultural heritage of music, spirit, and our tradition of families joining together for the holidays," said Kearns. "All of us can use a little lift, especially during this time of economic uncertainty around the world."

Kearns, who is recognized as "Ireland's Finest Tenor," is a founding member of The Irish Tenors. He performed at a "Celebration of Irish Spirits" reception at the Capitol Hill Club's Eisenhower Lounge. Kearns was accompanied by Eric Stern.

Kearns opened the program with "My Lagan Love." Other songs included "Kitty Me Love," "Sorrento," "Funiculi Funicula," "I Heard the Bells," "Silent Night," and "Danny Boy." (Clips posted on YouTube.)

Kearns' solo performance schedule includes operas and symphonies in the coming year. He also performs and tours with The Irish Tenors, whose new album, "Christmas," currently tops the Billboard World Charts.

"Anthony Kearns is one of the world's Great Tenors," said Kirsten Fedewa, a Washington, D.C.-based representative for Kearns and the event's organizer. "This event showcased Anthony Kearns' enormous talent while allowing him to deliver the poignant, powerful messages of the season through his songs."

Kearns' two-day visit included national media interviews, meetings with industry representatives, and current and former members of Congress, such as Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-NY), Rep. Donald Payne (D-NJ), former Rep. Ray McGrath (R-NY) and others.

Kearns' appearance was made possible by the Distilled Spirits Council, The Capitol Hill Club, DIAGEO, DDC Advocacy, MH Media, NBC Universal, Reflections Photography, and Kirsten Fedewa & Associates. Proceeds benefited The Consortium of Catholic Academies.
