NASHVILLE, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Warner Music Nashville) Blake Shelton was honored this morning with five CMA Award nominations including their most prestigious honor, "Entertainer of the Year." This is Shelton's first nomination of his career in the Entertainer category at any award show. He is also up for the CMA Award for "Male Vocalist of the Year" and his infectious multi-week smash-hit, "
Honey Bee" receives two nominations in the categories of "Single of the Year" and "Music Video of the Year" (Trey Fanjoy). His No. 1 Album, All About Tonight, produced by Scott Hendricks, is up for "Album of the Year." Also today, Shelton reveals his remake of the classic song, "
Footloose" exclusively available on AOL and AOL's The Boot. "
Footloose" will be on the Sept. 27 Footloose soundtrack, which is available now for pre-order on iTunes. Shelton's emotionally powerful music video for "
God Gave Me You" debuts today, as well, on his official website, www.BlakeShelton.com. The music video includes a never-before-seen testimonial from
Miranda Lambert that was shot before their May wedding.
"To be honest, I secretly hoped that I'd get this nomination one day, but I never thought I actually would," said a slightly shocked Shelton. "After 10 years of watching my friends receive this incredible honor, I got pretty used to being a cheerleader for them, ya know? I didn't expect this today but I know I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my band and crew. Most of them have been with me from the beginning of my career, and they are such a big part of why I get to do what I love. Tracy Broussard, Rob Byus, Kevin Canady, Philip Desteiguer, Brett Hardin, Travis Medlin, Jeff Parsons, Kevin Post and Beau Tackett - thank you guys for helping me get here. I love you."
The 45th Annual CMA Awards - "Country Music's Biggest Night" - will broadcast live on the ABC Television Network from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday, Nov. 9 (8:00 PM/ET).
Shelton's fastest rising single, "God Gave Me You," is a particularly important song on his new album, Red River Blue, because it reminds him of his relationship with country music superstar, Miranda Lambert. He first heard the song while he was driving and was so moved by the lyrics that he had to pull his truck over. The moment he heard "God Gave Me You" with all of the correlations it had to his own life, Shelton knew that he needed to cut the song on his album.
