Nashville, TN. (Top40 Charts/ Sony BMG) - Country recording artist Rockie Lynne, who performed in Fayetteville, N.C., at U.S. Army base Fort Bragg's annual July 4th celebration in front of an audience of 45,000 people, was taken by surprise when the Army presented him with the prestigious 'Iron Mike' Award.

The 'Iron Mike' is given to individuals who show outstanding commitment to the Armed Forces.

Lynne is a veteran of the United States Army and served at Fort Bragg for six years. His performance on July 4th was the first time he had returned to the base since leaving the military.

"I try to do as much as I can for our troops but this show was especially meaningful for me because of my personal connection to Fort Bragg," says Lynne. "Receiving the 'Iron Mike' Award is an honor beyond comprehension. I was stunned when Colonel David Fox walked on the stage and handed it to me."

Lynne served in the 82nd Airborne from 1985 - 1991. His original composition, "Red, White and Blue" was included on his self-titled debut, released in 2006 on Universal Records, and is played at most U.S. memorial services in Iraq.

He is currently signed to the Sony BMG distributed Robbins Nashville and is in the studio recording his next project for the label.
