NASHVILLE, TN. (CBR/ www.cbr.org) - In 1998, Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc. established the CRB Career Achievement Award to honor artists who have been major influences on the growth of Country radio. This recognition goes beyond the creation of hit records, although obviously an achievement in itself. The award is presented to deserving artists to recognize their contributions that have specifically affected Country radio?s success. The award will be given at the Country Music DJ and Radio Hall of Fame Dinner and Awards Ceremony, Tuesday, March 1, 2005. This year, CRB is proud to present the CRB Career Achievement Award to legendary Country music pioneer Dolly Parton, featuring a special performance by Country stars Martina McBride and Catherine Britt. After spending many years at RCA, it is a fitting homage for Dolly that two of RCA?s current successful artists honor her with a musical tribute. Dolly now records for Sugar Hill Records. An internationally renowned superstar, Dolly has made her mark as an Oscar-nominated movie star for her role in the film 9 to 5, starred in her own network television series Dolly and founded the entertainment amusement park Dollywood preserving her Smoky Mountain heritage, now one of Tennessee?s number one attractions. Simultaneously she continued to write and record Country music. Because of Dolly's continued identification with Country radio, the industry has gained significant benefits from her multimedia exposure and has expanded its audience over the years as she expanded her own.
