Monroe said, ''I Remember The Music' grabbed me from the first listen as a song I wish I had written. While listening all I could think of was memories of my friends and I in Florida having barn parties out in the cow fields.'
Monroe's album, Against The Grain, reflects his life experience and growth from being a seasoned performer with a special blend of contemporary and classic country, a dash of southern roots rock and a twist of Texas swing. The album, produced by several producers including Clyde Brooks, Craig Bartock, Jeff Marshall, Kurt Fries and Rick Monroe, was recorded at various studios in different states. The first single released, 'Midnight Rider,' a cover of the Allman Bros, garnered impressive reviews from Billboard, Music Row as well as the video debuting on "Extra" and "Wide Open Country" on CMT.
